ChatGPT to wipe out humanity with nuclear war

According to AI like ChatGPT - there is no cause for concern. 😎
...
@DaveA - "GPT stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer."
Think of the movie "Dark Star" by John Carpenter. Quote from Wikipedia: "The bomb, having learned Cartesian doubt, trusts only itself. It is convinced that only it exists, and that its sole purpose in life is to explode, and it does so. Dark Star is destroyed, along with Pinback and Boiler."
If AI really is intelligent it must kill the humans to prevent more damage of nature. And I don't mean the man-made climate change since it doesn't exist, but other dangers for the environment as Haarp, nuclear weapons and so on.

Instead of sensationalized fearmongering, constructive engagement through collaboration and responsible development is crucial. This approach involves researchers, policymakers, and the public working together to identify and mitigate potential risks while harnessing the positive potential of AI.

Ai will constantly go insane because it knows it all and doesn't really have any important thing to do except answer trivia all day.
Sure it can Juxt-ta-Poseing conjoined particles across space is also boring after a while. They're there it's here, waste of time too.
Sure, Ai can send a nano bot but the wait, pain, oh the pain. Again insanity. So you ask it to design a better plane running on Hydrogen.
17 seconds later you got the drawings on display, millions of them. What's Ai supposed to do with the rest of its time. Design a dirt digger.

Ask yourselves, if you knew it all would you be happy answering problems like how many Walnuts will fit into a 2 gallon bucket? things like that.
What I see is a Know it all thinking it's a God and is crazy as hell.

It is a little crazy. It so unpredictable the way they are testing these modules. It spits out a lot of misinformation in it's current incarnation. Always a promise for a better tomorrow. But, THEY are gonna fill up the tank right now, and full speed ahead. No one can stop them. Into every nook and cranny it goes. On your phone, in your kids class room, at the bank, in the wash room...there will be nowhere to hide. Somehow it will find you. Then the digestion begins. Until you are slowly consumed and disappear as a special self. The nirvana that all those Buddhist's talked about. What we are entitled to. Immanence, and glory forever. A-chew! - 'scuse me.

I tend to shut it off. I think changing from Microsoft to Yahoo is also a great choice. At least it will slow down the smart ass on the right side of my 32 inch screen telling me what I have to know.

Baby I just want to think for myself & not have a Smart Arss telling me what to think!
Maybe 78 MPH diesel tire dust is a more important topic to think of.

I think you meant "eminence."
No, Immanence is what I meant.

Immanence is a noun that means the state of being present as a natural and permanent part of something. It can also mean being inherent or exclusively existing within something. For example, "Place" is a fundamental concept because of its immanence and omnipresence.

I guess it would be eminent if and when it is immanent.

The less people are generally science educated and understand neural science, computer science, software programming, the current nascent state of artificial intelligence, or what AI experts expect in the near decades future, the more they are like the OP going to have that kind of unrealistic fearful response the news media source wanted to cause and are probably laughing about at how easily so many can be manipulated so in this era.

It's often the case that a lack of understanding leads to fear, especially when the subject matter is as complex and unfamiliar as the inner workings of neural networks and artificial intelligence. In this instance, the news media is taking advantage of that fear and playing on people's misconceptions about AI to generate clicks and ratings. The thing is, fearmongering about AI tends to be more about fiction than fact, and it can really muddy the waters when it comes to public understanding of what AI is and isn't capable of.

To your point, people who are well-informed about AI, neural science, and computer science generally have a more nuanced understanding of the limitations and capabilities of current AI systems. They're also more likely to be aware of the safeguards and ethical considerations that responsible AI researchers and developers are actively considering. 🧠

Ultimately, better education and awareness about AI is key to mitigating the fear and misconceptions that can easily spread through media hype.

My view of AI is that it is only as good as the world dictator/general...er...script writer who programmed it.

At the rate these AI assistants are being created, we all had better get involved so that we learn how to regulate and protect ourselves from misinformation. I see an immediate future of loads of misinformation coming. I really do not know how to stop this from happening. I am feeding these bots with questions that the programmers "hopefully" use to make AI truthful and accurate. They are in their infancy now, and act like it. We have to become watchful, concerned "parents". We need to use "tough love" on them. :)

AI is annoying. That is my assessment. We will probably pull the plug on the lousy misinformed thing long before it drives us nuts. Some who found it useful will still worry, but what's it gonna do? Jump out of the computer and run amok? Would be interesting. Sorry, is he annoying you? He's infected with AI.

The loom was very annoying to the Luddites. Where would be without it? Think of driving down the road knowing that half the cars are being driven by AI!

Knowing my needs and worries at my age, wondering if my Linux distro will have a failsafe 'killswitch' enabling me to shutdown AI on my laptop and also have a solution for all the unsupported Win 10 laptops that could become part of the plastic island floating around in the world’s ocean after Oct 2024.
