Magnificent, gorgeous animal.....but YIKES!! :eek:mg1:

March 29 (UPI) -- An Oregon man on safari in Africa ended up in a closer-than-expected encounter with a cheetah that jumped into the back seat of the SUV.
A video captured by Peter Heistein on the Grand Ruaha Safari in Tanzania shows safari-goer Britton Hayes sitting still inside the tour vehicle while the cheetah watches him from the seat behind him.

Part of me wants to touch the cheetah, but the sensible part wants to pass out or RUN. No one can out run them - they run 70mph.

I wouldn't be taking pictures because I'd have died of a heart attack!

I know!! I was amazed at the guy taking pictures. They keep saying "omg", "omg".
In a different video the guide had cautioned them - don't move, remain quiet, don't make eye contact.

What I find amazing is the number of vehicles backed up down the road. All promising a "once in a lifetime" chance to see these fabulous wild creatures. Not exactly the David Attenborough experience is it?

Beautiful animal, I felt sorry for it with all the people and vehicles around, must have been very stressful. Too close for comfort for me, my heart would be pounding.

Very beautiful animal. It's got to be stressful for the animal to see all of us humans going through her front yard. .

Cheetahs are known for doing stunts like this. I watched "Big Cat Diary", which used to be on in the mornings at 6:00 a.m. here and is produced by the BBC, and quite often, a Cheetah would come into on go on top of one of the vehicles that the moderator was driving with the camera. I have also seen different YouTube videos of Cheetahs becoming friends with larger dogs while in captivity. The Cheetah is my favorite cat. Their speed is amazing at 0-60 in three seconds. One Cheetah was clocked at 63 mph. Of course, they are sprinters, so they run out of gas after about a minute or so.

Cheetahs are such cool cats! They seem to be the most people friendly of the big cats also. I have never heard of one hurting anyone - have any of you?
