An old grandfather speaking to his grandson about what causes violence and cruelty in the world.

"In each human heart there are two wolves battling one another - one is fearful and angry, and the other is understanding and kind".

The young boy looks intently into his grandfather's eyes and asks,
"Which one will win?"

His grandfather smiles and quietly says, "Whichever one you choose to feed".

So much truth, so simply put. . .

A good analogy but really we need both of them in reasonably equal condition to operate successfully in this world don't we?
Why do people only choose to see the 'good' side of everything they read?

Neither 'wolf' alone would make us a very balanced or stable person. One would make us an utter nutter, the other a useless veggie dispensing smiles and bugger all else with victim tattooed on our brow.

Keep trotting 'em out, a drop of cynicism can dissolve holes in most of the 'best' pearls of wisdom when they're looked at closely enough.

'Every silver lining has a cloud and every analogy has it's equally relevant opposite.'
