Chewing Tobacco

Aunt Mavis

I have met the enemy and he is us. Pogo
I’m not too proud of the fact that I dipped at one time, filthy habit. My brother did too and I’ll never forget the day Mom mixed up his “spitter” with her own can of Diet Coke. Of course I waited until he got home and stood there with a big grin as the show began! Ouch! We both gave it up thank God. I still have dreams (monthly or so) about chewing tobacco even though I’ve been off it for over 30 years. That alone is probably indicative of its power over one. Yuck.

I use to use snuff when I would go places you couldn't smoke. I remember I took a trip to California with my two children and it came in handy. When your addicted to tobacco it is a craving that is very strong. It is only until I was told by my dentist that I could have a cancerous growth inside my mouth did I quit....twice, second time cold turkey.

My sweet grandma was a housewife who loved her husband unconditionally. There though was an ongoing thing about gramps that she did not like. Grandpa chewed tobacco and had three spittoons to the side of his living room chair, where he spent lots of time as he got older. Grams
refused to empty them, and actually so did gramps! Yeah, kind of yukky. lol

He did love his pipes though, and cigars...

I tried it once, just to have the experience. I was in my twenties at a picnic and was talking to an older man who was pulling some chewing tobacco out of a tin. He asked me if I wanted to try it and told me what to do. I did it for about a minute. That was more than enough. vomit It's not something I've had the desire to experience again. To say it was disgusting is an understatement.
