Chirping in my basement each and every fall

How do they do it, each and every fall? Those little noisy crickets, is there a tiny door I am unaware of? Every fall, one or two of them guys find their way inside. Try to find them! You can not easily track them, even when they chirp. I saw one but he was fast and hopped away before I could catch him. When I find them, I usually just put them outside to die or hibernate, whatever crickets do. In the meantime, I have that outdoorsy sound in my basement, haha. It's an indication that the nights have become cooler as fall has arrived.

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth in the places where you find them hiding. There are tons of crickets where I live & they get in sometimes, but my chihuahua is the great cricket hunter of all time LOL

Not sure I ever heard of that? There are so many places down there for them to hide that I can't get to. I wait for them to come out and grab them. It amazes me that they can throw their "chirp". Sounds like your chihuahua is on to them!

We just got back to Florida on Sunday and already the lizards are showing up. I heard a shout from the bathroom today. One had crawled across the Spousal Equivalent's foot while he was taking a shower. They're just little guys, any where between 1-3 inches long, but they can really surprise you when you're not expecting them.

Oh yuk. That's what my sister and brother-in-law were talking about this weekend, they live in Florida too. Yes, I think they would startle me too. Outside, no problem but indoors, not so much.

Well, now there are three, or were three. Found one, threw him outside. Don't have the heart to squish them.

I know what you mean, jujube. Those little guys are all over the place. The palmetto bugs give me the creeps. Always see a couple in the house each year.

When I was small my Grandfather had a pet cricket. He saw one in the basement one day and decided it would make a nice pet. He would put a small piece of tomato on the floor and we would sit on the basement steps and wait for him to come out. It didn't take long and he would come out for his dinner. As I remember this went on for quite awhile.
