CinnamonSugar’s trip—Seattle in the Spring

Today was international District Day

Asian restaurants, shops, museums and parks all in a section of S Seattle

first we strolled around the main shopping area. Some of the stores spill out into the sidewalk:

the tea shop was artfully arranged:

And the park with the colorful pavilion was as I remember it

International district continued…

Ate lunch at Honey Court Seafood, a restaurant I’ve wanted to come back to and eat ever since I left Seattle 4.5 yrs ago. My friend’s husband is Chinese -American, so he ordered for us: dim sum, sticky rice with pork wrapped in lotus leaves, green beans and individual custard pies for dessert…. Delish!!

lastly we made a stop at the huge oriental market where my friends stocked up and I bought a book in Japanese for my granddaughter. So many different items in the market, especially the produce section

Gosh, pictures of Seattle without any drunks, homeless encampments, panhandlers, activist riots, or people using the place as an open air toilet. You must be aiming your camera carefully. I live two hours south and haven't been in the "Emerald City" for at least ten years and will never go back there.

OK, I am glad you are having a good time. The weather has turned back to warm and sunny so you hit a perfect time for your visit. Enjoy.

Believe me, @Llynn, I had to rub up against the “under-belly” of Seattle when I worked here as a home visiting nurse. And a LOT of stuff has happened since then!

the international district is as close as I plan to get to stuff you mentioned!

that's a good idea for cities - have an international district and keep it clean for visitors? - your description of 'spilling out' on the pavement tickled me - lived in HK once and this was a glimmer of the magical chaotic scenes I encountered everyday and what of course may have started the covid epidemic in China!!

So I’m at the airport (busy but security went fast), checked in and sipping coffee (Seattle makes The Best Coffee) and waiting for my flight to begin boarding. The plane is already at the gate, so no worries about being late 😁

I did find yarn in Issaquah; I bought two variegated skeins and one complimentary color

Despite slight summer cold, I had a great time with my friends and will miss them.
