Classic cars from our generation

Mine was a '57 Bel Air 4-door sedan. It was a gift from my dad after my then-wife & I had our first son (we only had my old work truck).

Dad bought the '57 from a co-worker for only $75, if you can believe that. She was an elderly lady who'd lost her son when he was a child. Her son would have been my dad's age if he'd lived, and she said he would have looked a lot like my dad. She didn't want anything for the car, but dad insisted she take at least $100. She finally took $75.

The body was perfect but the paint was oxidized, so dad had it repainted. The original paint was that mid-50s Chevy turquoise color, but I chose the yellow-gold that came on Chevy trucks in the early-60s.

Generally i'm more concerned with function than form in most everything--houses, clothes, cars. Does it fulfill the purpose i need it for is primary. Looks not a big deal. But for sentimental reasons if i even bought a 'classic' or 'vintage' car it would be this, 1966 Ford Mustang:

Knew someone who came to Meredith March in one that pivotal summer. Some positive, fun memories attached to it despite the trying circumstances we were in. And who can forget:

Great choice of song and car.

This was the car I had after the '57 Chevy, except mine was white with red interior, and it was a hardtop.

Most luxurious back seat ever!...the "wrap-around" backseat.
Fantastic cars. But Mur, if it was your car, and you were the driver, how do you know so much about the back seat ..... hmmmm?

I remember those, a tad unappealing at the time. Rather prior to that my mate and I had A35 Vans, mine was fine but his started him a family.
4 of us kids were toted in the back where the luggage would usually have been ..in those days it was UNique in that the back door couldn't be open from the outside.. which meant putting 4 lively kids inside a car which could only be open from inside was courting disaster

My maternal grandfather had the 1956, 57 or 58 sleek model. Even though I've never had one (I was only 9 when he died) it was sold for a third its value, bummer. Gramps had won trophies and plaques. All went away. I'll forever remember those beautiful wine red Wings that I spent waxing for 3 whole years. It was a labour of love...

Ok, You're scaring me. How do you know me so well?
Thank you for the song!
Lol .... No worries. I don't think it's any secret that you are a spiritual person from all you post. It was just a song that spoke of letting your spirit fly free into the mystic. I just took a shot at something you might relate to if you were crusin' down the highway. Didn't know about the love of oldies, but I think that's very cool.

That’s a very interesting automobile. All 8 cylinders on one side. Kind of like having a straight 8, but on the side. They call it reverse engineering. That’s also new terminology to me. Cool looking car for its day. Is there any performance Data available?
Truth is 991 I have only ever seen one mention and picture of the car before in a Triumph book and that was a long time ago, the picture quality being poor and mainly of the exhaust system. So I assumed if ever made it had gone to Triumph Heaven or was a myth like the unicorns. I was very surprised to find it yesterday on the internet and wondered how much it sold for. Nice looking car and despite having been a member of UK Triumph clubs, nobody has ever spoken of its existence.

OMG..I love that color! Orange or red-orange are my favorites. There are some beautiful cars in this thread (haven't seen them all yet). They've had classic car shows down the shore (N.J.) but I haven't been able to attend any. I can't remember if they ever featured classic cars at the N.Y. Auto Show, which we've gone to a few times.

I used to see a man in town riding around in a car very similar to this one; color may have been a deeper cream. I always enjoyed seeing that car.

Beautiful car. Not sure of the make, but it's nice.

When I was a kid my father had a Hillman Husky.. remember those ?
My first car was a 1955 Hillman Husky. It was appallingly bad.

Look at the top of the radiator, you see the mascot? It's the letter 'B' with a wing extending from it. Known as the flying B it's the mascot of Bentley Motors, they were acquired by Rolls Royce in 1931.

Since acquiring my vintage MG I have learned a little about the marque's history. Did you know that they experimented with Art Deco designs?

Not sure if it went into production. I can't ever remember seeing one.
