Cleaning wooden laminate flooring

A friend insists she uses hot water and bleach for her floors and they do always look lovely, shiny and clean.
I assumed bleach would damage laminate floors, surely too strong?
I used pledge wood cleaning liquid, along with disinfectant to mop mine. I always check it is safe and suitable for the floor I am doing.

What does anyone else use?

I compromised by adding a very small squirt of bleach, it does give extra cleaning power and germ killing. I minimise the moisture, squeezing the mop out well. It's just I can't bear a dirty floor and the thought of what we might tread indoors from outside.
I actually also spray the soles of any outdoor shoes with Dettol spray regularly.

I had laminate floors in two previous houses. Hated them! No matter what I used to clean them, it always left a dull film. I even tried distilled water. Same thing.

When I replaced these floors, I stayed away from laminates. Now it's commercial vinyl tile, no grout, and I just mop with water.

The landlord put laminated snap together wood flooring in the kitchen. I use a mild dishsoap and warm water with a well wrung string mop on it.

Either your friend has discovered just the right ratio of bleach to water, or her flooring is still pretty new. It does take a while for bleach to damage laminate flooring...depending on the ratio, of course. Bleach and other cleaners containing harsh or acidic chemicals gradually strip the protective coating.

I don't like laminate flooring, but my wife asked for it, so I bought it, and she loves it. We clean it with a product called Zep.

Zep is not cheap, but it's recommended, so my wife wants it, so I buy it. But you only need a little bit, so it goes a long way.
Up-side is, Zep floor cleaner deodorizes the whole house. Not obtrusively; almost imperceptibly; but lastingly.

In my opinion, Weiman Hardwood Floor Cleaner streak-free formula is the best-bang for your buck. It’s designed for hardwood floors but works equally well on vinyl and laminate floors, and it's safe to use it on wood furniture. It leaves a shine on laminate floors, so maybe that's what your friend uses.

I like the spray bottle and a cloth mop for the wooden floors in our cabin, but Weiman also comes in a refill bottle for those wet-jet mops.
