Yesterday was the hottest day, worldwide, ever recorded. We, in the Canadian Maritimes, first suffered the loss of most of our grape vines due to a late severe frost, now 70% of our strawberry crop has been drowned because of all the rain we've had during the past two weeks. In our West farmers find it hard to grow a crop because of a prolonged drought! And persistent forest fires everywhere on a scale never seen before! I just saw in the news how Florida has been getting some unusually wicked storms for this time of the year as well. How are you doing where you live? Everything normal? Or not?
 

It doesn't seem too normal by us. The winters are worse than ever. We had record snow last year, and it wasn't just the amount of 14+ feet total, it was the wet snow that was then followed by cold, creating these masses of frozen snowpack on roofs and bending over and breaking trees and fences.

And this summer and last we have gotten extended droughts.
 
Not normal last month. We had humidity so excessive in Dallas that with the heating of the day we saw severe afternoon storms with hail. That is typical for Houston or Florida but not Northeast Texas since we're not near the water. We hit 105 degrees F last month. That kind of heat is typically reserved for late mid-July into August. In 2021, we had a winter storm that kept temps well below zero for several days. Many people died because they were without power. Yes, climate change is here.
 

Here, in the middle of Missouri, we've been in Extreme Drought this year. We haven't had a decent rain all spring, and are over 12 inches below normal for the year. That, coupled with daytime highs in the upper 80's to low triple digits, is making for a rather miserable Summer, so far. About the Only positive is that I haven't had to mow the yard more than a couple of times....much of it is already turning brown.
 
So sad about the crops OS! We've been getting a lot of rain, sometimes very heavy and a couple of thunderstorms for 5 days straight. A few days ago, I heard the loudest thunder I've heard in a very long time. Our temps are supposed to be (real feels) 100 by noon tomorrow and 98 by noon Friday. Another thunderstorm is forecast for Friday.

Our area got a lot of damaging thunderstorms as well, OED! Very unusual for early July, but thankfully our immediate area escaped them!
 
A another way to get the public's attention, with a less political title, might be,

"Welcome all you Earth Monkeys, Extreme, Erratic, Unpredictable climatic events are Increasing across the globe...maybe you've noticed the worldwide news."

I predict dystopian chaos films will do very well at theater box offices over this following decade.

It's a shame the the climate change situation has been made into a political football, which has further caused division in the public, at a time when increased unity is essential for confronting the challenge of survival. Smart, honest leadership is critical, hopefully that will continue.

Here in California, we had incredible rain, reservoirs and lakes full. Water released and wasted. Water I'm sure we will wish we had again in a few years. I worry all the time about it.

Very low 90's for a few days then back to triple digits. I wonder how long summer and the heat will last.

Cooler than average for the past 6 months at least. Huge record snow last winter too.

However I know that our short term weather has little to do with global climate trends. I am convinced it is getting warmer. We need to try and figure out what to do about it. Not sure enough of that's happening.

Last year we had summer drought. Then winter came and we had prolonged record cold. I have lots of trees that died. I am just now seeing some of them. Some of the smaller trees died in the top and are putting out shoots on the lower part of the trunk. I am not sure what to do about those so am leaving them alone for now.

I am not sure "warming" is what to expect. Last winter was so strange here that I am really concerned about what will happen this year.

IDK though. I really think all this climate change crisis stuff is a blatant power grab by those who use emergencies and temporary emergency measures to further their own agendas. I'm not political at all anymore so none of my decisions about anything have to do with that. :unsure:

The science is solid and points to outcomes with very high probability. There are people who do have agendas, mainly to protect the trillions of dollars worth of fossil fuel production and infrastructure.

People HATE bad news, and climate change is definately BAD news.

Carl Sagan swore up and down in 1978 that we were headed into another ice age. Am I the only one who remembers the science of climate change thing back then?

I call it as I see it, the weather where I live has been drier from May to September. On the other hand it’s been much wetter than normal in different parts of the year. Put a weather rock outside and look at it, you’ll soon be an expert like so-called experts.

Chic, you're not the only one that remembers the ice age warnings in the 70s but we might be the only two on this forum. First it was ice age, then global warming and then climate change to cover all the bases.
 
We tend to forget that we have dodged nuclear Armageddon for 80+ years. Complacency! Some days (these days) I wonder how that is possible! If that doesn't do us in, then climate change slowly and methodically will! Oh yea, there's that AI business too! Sorry to be a Debbie downer, yea I have grandkids too, but I calls ‘em as I sees them as Yogi said. Fermi Paradox? Surely the great filter(s) is directly ahead of us.
 
Big storm outside right now but storms come and go. I'm in the middle of Canada and things are still pretty good. However climate change is real.

Of course, many are in denial. They are still flying everywhere for holidays and those monster cruise ships keep getting larger and larger.

We have a lot of silly, small issues in the media but I am very concerned about 2 major issues because they just might be the end of civilization as we have known it. I am talking about:

1. Global Warming - storms, massive migration, starvation, war for food and living space.
2. Nuclear War - Yap! If Sir Putin, the Great doesn't stop or the Chinese Lion wouldn't stop roaring, we are going to be into WWIII. It seems many countries are itching to get into it; including Canada. This is no joke. Too bad the young generation wouldn't learn their history. What they don't like they just topple over the statues because it "upsets them."
