Cloning - aside from the cost factor; what is your opinion on cloning?

Well, It'd LOOK like it but I doubt if it would THINK like it-her-him.

Agree . I saw something on Youtube where a farmer had his beloved, gentle pet bull cloned. The clone attacked the farmer, and put him in the hospital.

This is why I hesitate. I'm not saying being cloned made it mean, I'm saying like Falcon, maybe a clone is mentally different.

Well it depends...if their going to clone Hitlers & C.Manson's Hell no...if their going to clone smart guys & pretty girls....Hell'yeah !!

Barbra Streisand cloned 2 dogs from genetic swabs taken from inside the mouth of her deceased dog and then infused it into an egg (or something like that ). She said both cloned pups look the same but have different personalities. She paid $50,000 each to have it done. They are purebred Coton de Tulear. I, personally, wouldn't care to do it. There's a higher rate of miscarriages so it can't be an ideal thing.

With all the pets out there in need of good homes, cloning just seems to be a vanity thing for the rich people. Not long ago I saw a thing, on 60 minutes I think, about a guy who has had his prized Polo pony cloned. Multiple times. He apparently has a whole team of ponies who are clones of his original. He claims it is OK.

Here is an article about him.

I think cloning is morally repugnant. There are plenty of cats and dogs available at the pound. Also I am old fashioned about creation; I do not believe extreme measures should be utilized.

I read the article in the link at Vanity Fair Marie posted above. It was so interesting about Adolfo Cambiaso cloning his team of horses for his polo team. Rather long article but it also gets into cloning in general.

Anyone interested in the subject should read this article.

I'm still neither for or against it personally, too much to learn yet, but we've been genetically engineering plants and animals by breeding for at least a few centuries. Cats for coats, dogs for aggressiveness, etc... so I wonder just how more immoral cloning is.

Here's a pic of Mr. Cambiaso and one of his clones.

(Maybe we should clone Mr. Cambiaso? LOL)

I made a wise crack before about it...But seriously...I believe we have enough pets , animals & such but. When it comes to cloning cells, etc. I do not believe we should impede medical science . It might come to save life someday ? Or perhaps help someone walk? Breathe ? See...& so-on.

Some say creepy? Some take a religious approach, but think about it. If you have, or a loved one has a serious condition do you not want the latest scientific advance available to treat it ? A cloned cell, organ, etc. Might just be that latest advance, that puts you back to playing with your grandchildren, or walking your dog.

At one time heart by-pass & stents seemed creepy...but look how many lives those two procedures have saved.

If cloning is part of advancing science to broaden medical science in it's entirety ? Then yes I'm all for it.

Based on what I know at this point, I would have to say that I'm against it.

I suppose it could solve some of the problems associated with polygamy.

Imagine seven different women with exact duplicates of the same man! :eek:nthego:
