Coats I advertised on FB local Garage Sale

I have three women's winter coats I want to sell. A few days ago I posted them on FB Online Garage sale for my area. The maroon, fur-lined one is $10, the brown suede is $5 and the green one is $3. Not one "nibble". Is that too much to ask for them?

They may be too old fashioned or worn Deb, brand new winter jackets are fairly cheap these days in places like Walmart, so folks would probably want something more modern and brand new, their perfect size. I won't buy used clothes at all anymore, too many horror stories on the news about how people are bringing bed bugs into their homes by buying clothes and linens from thrift stores, even from staying in hotels. If it were me, I'd probably just donate them to the needy and not hassle trying to get a few bucks for them.
 
I agree with SeaBreeze. I would just donate them to a woman's shelter. But if I'm being truly honest, I would just throw those out.

Your prices are fine. The coats are not very fashionable, so that's probably the problem.

They would be gold to a costume-maker or someone who alters clothes. Try finding a FB page or website for people like that - like, local costume-makers and arts-and-crafters - and post the pictures there.
 
I think the prices are too high for coats of that era unless you advertise them as "vintage" so you'll attract an audience who is looking for vintage clothes. When things are labeled "vintage" they can command a higher price because because you'll attract people who are really into older things to begin with and are willing to pay for them.
 
Also, after buying them, someone would have to spend money having them cleaned which usually isn't cheap...by then you could buy a new one at Walmart.

Also, scratch my idea of donating to a women's shelter, the more I thought about it ..the more I think those women deserve new coats.
They don't have to be expensive.
Or at least worn only once coats. These women are in a bad enough place in my opinion. An old worn coat would depress me even more.

I don't want to sound harsh or mean in my reply to you, debodun but from reading your other posts, you really don't need those few bucks.

Hope I'm not out of line saying this. Otherwise I think you do lots of good things for your church and community.
 
Unless it’s the photo ..the green one looks like it’s fairly worn with threads hanging off it ....personally I’d bin it ..if that’s the case ...
The other two I don’t think many would give them a second glance due to being outdated ....here in Australia you can buy a really nice winter jacket for $20 in Kmart/ big W / Target / Costco also has some nice inexpensive winter jackets at reasonable prices
 
I would donate to Goodwill or some other charity. They are not things people wear now. Why don't you just advertise them as free as a price. You are rid of them and that's the goal anyway.
 
Don’t know if the likes of Salvos and other charity shops make up bags of rags from unsuitable / stained / outdated clothing and home wares where most of you live ...they do here in Australia ...which they sell to mechanic shops and other industries to use as hand cleaning rags
 
Where I live, they have an annual coat donation drive, where you are asked to donate "gently worn" coats, jackets, etc. to a local charity. It gets a tremendous response.
