Cochlear Implants I AM EXCITED Does anyone have one?

The biggest and most frustrating problem in my life has been my hearing which is severely impaired to the point of being almost totally deaf.

Private & VA Audiologists have all told me that I would have to go To Los Angeles or San Francisco to see a specialist doing Cochlear Implants and my PC Doc has been no help in getting me a referral.

Finally, On my own and with a few Google searches and a article in the Hearing Loss Assoc. magazine I was able to find a specialist just 60 miles from where I live and am awaiting a call for my first appointment. I kid you not, I would gladly give my right foot to have my hearing back and hope I am a good candidate for the procedure.

Good luck with that Lon. I have a good friend (internet friend) who had it done and he's very happy with the procedure. Opened up a whole new world.

Lon - Please keep us posted. As you know there are a lot of us "geezers" on here with significant hearing loss.

Mary went to her doctor with her 10th pregnancy. Doc said, "Ya know Mary, you're getting too old for this; how come?"

She said that she thinks it's because she's hard of hearing. Doc wondered what THAT had to do with everything.

Mary said, Well, every time my husband and I get into bed, he says, "Ya wanna go to sleep or what?

And I say, "WHAT ?"

I don't blame you for being excited Lon, hope you're a good candidate and they work well for you. Please keep us updated!
