Cocktails I’ve made

I decided to start a thread featuring cocktails! I love to mix drinks, so I thought this would be a god place to record my mixologist efforts, for good and for bad!

This is a Ne-gr-oni. Easy to make and refreshingly bitter, the Ne-gr-oni is said to have been invented in Florence by Italian Count Camillo Ne-gr-oni in the early 20th century. While at Bar Casoni in Florence, he demanded that the bartender strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by replacing the usual soda water with gin.

Equal parts sweet vermouth, Campari and Gin with a garnish of orange. Poured over ice. Delicious!

I had to edit the name of the drink because the original name, without the dashes, was censored. 🤷‍♀️

I've never had one of those. I'm not really a gin drinker.
But, the last time I had gin, it crept up on me and sent me to bed early... 🥳

These days if I have a mixed drink it will usually be a Moscow Mule, or just an ice cold beer.

Ne-gro-nis are one of my favourites, if I’m having a mixed drink.

The other is a Manhattan. Both of them, I can add lots of ice and make it last longer.

I don’t care for the taste of gin so I avoid it when it’s the high note of a drink.

But the Campari has such a strong note that it hides the gin taste, and is more potent because of the flavor stew alcohol than an Americano which is Campari and sweet vermouth minus the gin but with added club soda.

A small bottle of Angostura bitters now costs $13. I don’t know what the shelf life is for these. Good thing it only takes a couple of splashes to make a cocktail.
Bitters last pretty much forever!! Of course there are so many different bitters varieties now that I’m not as sure as I used to be of that statement! 🤦🏼‍♀️

But Angostura Bitters which have been around forever and which I use in all of my cocktails that call for bitters last almost that long!!

My dad made a yummy, beautiful drink called Traffic Light Shot that had 3 distinct layers of color; green, yellow, and red.

• 1/3 shot Grenadine Syrup
• 1/3 shot Galliano Herbal Liqueur
• 1/3 shot Midori Melon Liqueur

It was really a surprise the first time he made them.

But not as surprising as seeing my pious 79yr-old, 4'11" (1.5 meters) Italian grandma knock one back in half-a-second and then cross her tiny hands on the table and say with an innocent smile, "That was very nice."

I fix my wife a Cosmopolitan, which is a shot of Triple Sec, a shot of Vodka, mixer is cranberry juice...plus ice. A Cosmo actually calls for a sprig of mint, but I haven't had any for a while...should plant some, I don't think the rabbits and squirrels will eat mint...they'll damn sure eat everything else.
For my single malt Scotch it's 'neat' or on the rocks, for the supermarket grade scotch I'll mix with club soda.

Right now I'm enjoying a Moscow Mule! 😊
