Collecting names for patition to lower speed limit on our road

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
Wife & I got names from 6 families on our road to lower speed limit after one of many crashes destroying private property along the road we live on. We live in rural area where the road is actually fun to drive at high speeds not to say I ever drove above the speed limit.
We are also holding a town meeting at the church of the pastor we are staying with to brainstorm ideas for the legislature to consider and hopefully vote on. The houses and property where we live are exposed to cars and trucks traveling too fast down the hill and losing control, so we’re trying to do something about it.

Try contacting the NY D. O. T. They are the ones who set speed limits. Local governments have no control over speed limits. And you have NY state legislators, find out which are yours, and get on their case.

I hope this works out for you, Ed! Since it's always been a road that's "fun to drive at high speeds" though, would anyone driving it in that way actually obey the speed limit even if lowered? Wouldn't it also take a petition to have more law enforcement in the area enforcing that new speed limit?
