Reminds me of a time when I went grocery shopping many moons ago at a British supermarket with an American girlfriend. She was amazed by the size of the vegetables, and had a particular fascination with the size of the carrots for some reason. 
I said to her, "This is why Britain has been invaded so many times in the past, because of the fertility of the soil".
I then said, āYou should see the size of our spring onions!ā I then took her over to where the leeks were and said, āJust look at the size of these spring onions!ā She was astonished and had no words for what she was seeing. It was at that point that I thought I may have taken it a bit too far. I didnāt have the heart to tell her I was only joking.
