Computers and reading glasses.

I went through cataract surgery about 5 years ago and got 20/40 vision out of the deal. For the first year or so I relied on reading glasses for most things, and then got prescription glasses. I am wanting to go no glasses (I lost them, and a back up pair) and just reading glasses. Mostly they are easy to replace, and a lot cheaper.

As great as they are they don’t help me with the computer. Is there anything I can do to see the computer better?

Try different readers. There are inexpensive ones at the dollar stores. Once you know what helps, buy a decent pair. Just keep them right beside your computer.

Last resort, ask your optometrist.

You can zoom in on the page you're viewing also you can set accessability font settings. I have glasses that have progressive lenses with my long distance view out the top of the lense and then a computer section in the middle and then my bifocal.

I have had cataract surgery on both eyes and my long distance vision is fine without needing glasses but short distance vision means I need reading glasses.

I found this problematic because I was forever looking for the reading glasses which were never conveniently strung around my neck. My solution was to have prescription glasses with separate short and medium correction and hardly any for long distance. There remains a small amount of stigmatism in one eye for long distance.

This solution is more expensive but there are advantages. For one thing, I mostly know where my glasses are - on my face. Second - I don't require prescription sun glasses. If I find myself driving into the sun I can change to over-the-counter sunnies and still be legal. I can pass a long distance eye test without glasses and there is nothing on my licence that indicates that I need to wear spectacles.

I get computer glasses when I have my eyes checked. The last update for computer glasses was 6 years ago. I don’t wear glasses all the time, only for reading and I use progressive lenses because I am a bit vain using bifocals with the line in the glass.

I buy reading glasses and computer glasses, both have progressive lenses due to a bit of vanity. Computer glasses were changed 6 years ago, reading glasses were changed just last year. Daily wear, I use contacts.

I had cataract surgery in December. At the time, I had computer glasses and progressives. I ordered new of each since Medicare would only cover single vision cataract surgery. Until I could get the new glasses, waiting on having my other eye done and 3 weeks, I ordered these from Amazon and they worked great because I could leave them everywhere: https://www.amazon.com/Reading-Glas...KXBQ2WD&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_11_cp_i for $15.99! A lot cheaper than computer glasses.

Progressives? Took me a while to realise that they are what we call multifocals. My multifocals don't have a distinct line showing anywhere.
Yes those are progressives. I fought them on it cuz I like my lines. Took me a bit to get used to them. First week felt like I was looking at the world through a fish tank.
