It was with a heavy heart that I learned of the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99. Offering peace and goodwill to my valued UK friends.

Sad for the Queen, I think theirs was a true love story.

But he did live to be 99, which most people would be happy to achieve. I'm sure his family take comfort in that.

We have been expecting this, of course, but it is still sad news. It's the end of an era.

I agree, but in all honesty I think she probably began being aware of her own mortality when both her mother & younger sister died within weeks of each other in 2002

She's been gradually winding down for a while now, preparing for Prince Charles to take her place. We have certainly been very fortunate to have her as our monarch for so long.
When Prince William takes the throne, I think Queen Catherine, as she will be, will also be a great asset. Although she isn't from the aristocracy, I think he chose well.
