I just saw something that suggested that tests for corona virus might not be free in US?
What is the situation over there?
NSW (my state) is pulling out all the stops to get on top of a cluster of COVID cases that are so far mostly contained to a peninsula in the north side of Sydney Harbour. The beachside suburbs have been put into hard lockdown i.e. there is a stay at home order with just 4 exemptions - work, shopping for necessities, medical and compassionate reasons. Yesterday there were over 42,000 tests carried out in the peninsula and the good news is that there were only 8 positive cases. All of this testing is covered by medicare, a federal program that ensures that everyone can afford medical services when they need them. It is not means tested.
Edit - The premier has just announced that because of this cluster there are restrictions on Christmas this year - no more that 10 adults can come to the home on Dec 24, 25 and 26. That puts paid to my family get together on 26 because we number 16. Looks like we postpone celebrating until January 1.
