Could dreams be real contact with people?

Weird dream last night:

"Woke up" to the noise of saws and noisy kids. No idea what house this was, but it seemed to be mine.

A large tree out front was being sawed apart limb by limb by some guy in some sort of uniform. Kids across the street (where they lived?) were cheering him on and laughing at me for being upset.

Tree turned out to be full of bees, which came swarming out. Got past that, and then there was a big owl that came at me. We ended up in some sort of hand to hand combat. I tossed the owl and then we just crouched there, smoldering at each other.

No idea what came next. Woke up?

Had a very oddly "normal" dream, mostly driving to several mundane locations to do routine things. For some reason a cousin maybe 20 years younger was with me, though I can't place her at all. We were having good conversations and she seemed intrigued by weird magnetically mounted things on the outside of the car. No idea what those were or why they were there, but fairly small like something somebody might put on their dash. In the dream that seemed natural even if a little eccentric.

I think I was dropping her off somewhere when suddenly she kind of came on to me. That's when I woke up, completely puzzled by the entire dream but relieved.

You certainly have some interesting dreams. I have in the past but scarcely remember any these days. I wonder if @feywon can relate to these?

This dream occurred maybe 25 years ago. I remember the dream's general features. It involved Margaret, a woman friend of mine with whom I'd travelled by train down to coastal Northern California. She was originally from California, and when we were down there, she had taken me to meet some friends of hers living on a rural property with gardens, pasture, and a few head of cattle. (All this part had actually happened.)

Then about six years later, in my final dream before getting up one morning, Margaret and I were back at that little farm. We were sitting in one of the buildings there. While sitting, several screens appeared floating in the air in front of us, like 35-inch computer monitors — except while they showed activity, they had zero depth dimension. But the realistic images were in vivid color, very sharply defined. And they showed various members of the resident family doing daily tasks required on that property, as though on high-definition TV. ... And then I woke up.

The dream was fascinating. But what was mind boggling to me was something that occurred later the same day. In the evening, I drove about 50 minutes to the home of friends living in town. They hosted a party involving about ten people. About an hour after I arrived, Margaret showed up. Startling, because I'd had absolutely no idea she knew the party's hosts! Plus, in those years she lived in a place at least 45 minutes away from the party's location, but also geographically way off in another direction from where I lived. Up to that point I hadn't seen Margaret or had any kind of communication with her in maybe five years.

I woke after very vivid clear dreams today. I had been talking to people and they seemed so real, I felt connection and as if I knew them.

It sounds silly, but could it be that in dreams we encounter other souls who still exist elsewhere? Perhaps who lived on earth and have passed on but they and their thoughts are still around on other levels.

When asleep we enter a different consciousness and let's face it, nobody really knows. Our minds have a whole mysterious ability.

I am reading science fiction at the moment and so am open to all kinds of possibilities - why not? As far as we know, humans are the only living beings possessed of imagination in which all things are possible.

What do you think dreams are? Just a 'defragging' of our daily life or something more?
sometimes......if you consider it and it is plausible --likely I would say, look for the message

Sometimes I think my dreams are sorting through old unresolved issues in our waking life. Thinking things through, as it were,
I mentioned in a thread last week that I fell out of bed....in the dream my late husband came in and I was so startled I stood up too fast....and right out of bed as I apparently started standing before fully awake. Rick will be gone 5 years next month..he has invaded my dreams a lot these past weeks. Wonder if it means anything??

I think when you dream about a loved one who is gone, it probably does mean something. Maybe it is related to the 5 year mark somehow.

I think dreams are simply the result of our mind taking all our thoughts and experiences and putting them thru a blender. Usually I can piece together why I had a dream and how the parts came together, but sometimes they're so random it's baffling.

Do I think dreams "could be real contact with people?" No I don't. First because I don't believe we have any kind of spirit that exsist after we die. I also don't believe the human mind has true ability for psychic connect, with anyone living or dead.

I have images appear in my dreams and wake me up. One was of a woman with a face, not known, and others are flimsy images with white spots in them as part of the images. I guess this is my brain but a little scary.

Wonder if it means anything??--If it were me, and often it is: I would be on particular alert for vibes, feelings notations, intuition, etc- synchronicity"....I am a big believer in that as well as contacts from spirits, but not always- sometimes our subconscious is just exercising its energy in our memories......therein in the deal -and the reason to be alert...especially for notable stuff--- numbers etc.

The contents of my dreams aren’t scary. They are mostly silly and meaningless. What is scary is that my mind creates these scenarios by itself without my conscious input.

Last night I dreamed I had a friend over for dinner who worked nights and had only one hour for dinner. I was serving wine with dinner and couldn’t get the cork out of the bottle of wine.. I spent the entire dream trying to get the cork out and then the dream ended. In my waking life I’ve never had anyone over for dinner who worked nights and only had one hour for dinner. And I have never been unable to get the cork out of a wine bottle. ???

Generally, for me, often, but not always -there is clearly an emotion attached to a particular dream ..often anxiety, frustration annoyance and similar....seems to me that puts me on the lookout for pending situations, people, etc.....never any clear cut, every time connections

Interesting, I used to have dreams about a woman I was in love with who passed away. They were so real it was mind blowing. I felt she was actually with me. This happened a few times.

I was married twice before, they also passed away, but I never dreamt about them.

I'm past trying to figure mine out. Just woke up from one a bit ago where someone else was having a nightmare. Hopefully not a nightmare about me having a nightmare.

Ok that sounds nutty enough that I can probably go back to sleep now.

The delivery of the narrator here is a little dry, but the topic is pretty interesting as an "out there" theory. Dreams are a big part of the thesis here:

Almost 20 minutes, but maybe you can get the gist in the first 5 or so.

sometimes, mostly subconscious..(.the boss )romping around our memories but sometimes a good self reflection will reveal a contact..not sure who initatied it -normally the other does and it is clear.

Could dreams be real contact with people?

Dreams of having sex with neighbors , friends or even strangers comes to mind.

I dreamed I was driving around a field in a jeep with a girlfriend back in college. Nothing spectacular, but when I told it to my girl friend the next day, she said she had that dream too. I asked her to describe it and she said we were in a jeep. I asked her what we were doing, and she replied that we were exploring the back forty. That's the only time I ever questioned some kind of ESP, but one coincidence doesn't prove anything. However, it did get me wondering.

No one really knows what dreams are because it's not even known what consciousness is. So could dreams be sharing some type of field of communal consciousness with others living or dead? Who knows.

Some believe that at death we pass into an eternal dream state.

Ladies, it's our brains way of entertainment
during basically a boring time confined
to a small space.

If you sleep with a partner, you wake them up instead.
They give you their elbow and fall back asleep, brains satisfied.

When you die, your brain has no supply of oxygen. You done.
What's out there doing a dance with another lil tiny lil thing is immaterial.
