Could WW 3 be around the corner?

If there is a WWIII, those of us who survive will probably encounter as did Mad Max colonies of feral children who have developed their own mythologies about the Apocalypse…

War in the middle east is a rabbit hole. As americans we get drawn in repeatedly because of alliances. Whether it is our desire to insure the flow of oil, religious ties, strategic base locations or any other reasons. Our leaders must negotiate all these complex issues…and the other players know it. In this manner we are sucked in.

Alliances? Or fifth columnist dual-citizens and foreign-bought and paid-for politicians? Can you say "Burisma?" I think you can.

Thas some great B.S. Human nature proves a petty Despot will launce Sooner Than Later. Take it to a Bank and remote life is wise, Far South as possible. Only one person aboard the Soviet sub kept them from Launching In the 60's.

why didn't he launch? what prevented him from pressing a button? The Japanese could have concured the pacific, Hitler could have won all that he wanted. They didn't win. They lost..............................................why

I agree with your post, @ChiroDoc, but I worry about Putin and Kim Jong Un. They don't seem terribly stable to me. I don't have a lot of faith that they would follow the logic you described.
Due to the sensationalism of the American media, Putin does not get enough credit for his patience, circumspection, and restraint. He's understandably worried about being surrounded by NATO alliance countries, but he would have to be completely and unavoidably backed into a corner militarily before he would resort to international nuclear deployment. He knows there's no way back from that, as do other heads of first world countries.

In my view Kim Jong Un is a pissant tin pot dictator who no one is seriously worried about. If he ever actually threatened the U.S. with imminent and verifiable weapons capacity, that would be his death sentence, along with the rest of his circle. He's a loud mouthed tempest in a teacup.

People should not be so easily scared by the media's unconscionable practice of stirring up panic.

too much credit is given to leaders of various countries and to be honest, the idea of superior intelligence by any one of them. Sorry but I don't agree. Regardless of ideologies and beliefs it is all about power and money. It is about ego's.
Those who rise to power do so for a variety of reasons. Are they intelligent......yes.
But on the world stage it becomes a differnt matter. Swing your weight with the big boys, count the cost and then take your shot.
Most times rational thinking kicks in and then the "ah shit, I was just kidding" rhetoric steps in.
Regardless of everything we need each other and it makes sense to work with one another rather then force your desires against opposition that will just say 'kiss my ass".
Stop trusting the news. They know no more than the rest of us. They just posture as they they were experts.
Don't get me wrong. There is some crazy out there who will do or attempt to do what we all fear. 9/11 is a perfect example. It happen, yet what did it achieve?

Because, unlike the United States, both Japan and Germany lacked the abundance of natural resources and the industrial might necessary for prolonged modern warfare.

On the contrary, a dictator with a nuclear arsenal at his disposal is a 'pissant tin-pot dictator' whom millions of Japanese are seriously worried about, especially given the fact that Japan is the only country to have experienced nuclear attacks

The longer these wars in Israel and the Ukraine last, the greater the chance that we will all be at risk. The US and Europe are supplying weaponry to Israel/Ukraine, while Russia, China, and Iran are doing their part on the opposite side of these conflicts. It's just a question of time before some leader makes the wrong decision, and causes a major loss to the "suppliers", who will then be drawn in, The "Doomsday Clock" is 90 seconds till Midnight....closest to "disaster" since this movement was started in 1947.

It's long past time for people to stand with one voice and say not just no but hell no to any more of this crap.

Truthfully , I do think the world is looking toward WW3, however I doubt that I will see it. I'm 85 this month and probably don't have a lot of time left.

China is engaged in building a very large navy, thought to be the largest in the world. We are committed to defending Taiwan from likely seizure by China. If we keep our word that could degenerate into a real mess.

The film On the Beach is a powerful illustration of what is imagined might play out after a Nuclear War world war.
