Last week I watched The View and noticed the show is packed full of commercials so today I monitored. Here is what I saw.
1st Break 5 minutes long 11 commercials
2nd Break 4:35 long 6 commercials
3rd Break 3 minutes long 11 commercials
4th Break 5 minutes long 14 commercials
5th Break 4 minutes long 11 commercials
Last Break 1 minute long 5 commercials
Totals: 22 minutes and 35 seconds of 54 commercials

I record a lot of the shows that I watch later, in part because of the convenience factor but also in order that I can fast-forward through the commercials. Not only are commercials numerous but repetitious; you can literally see the same commercial played again minutes later!

Popular shows have more commercials!!
I can't believe anyone actually watches that sideshow.
I enjoy my Firestick Streaming Devise....

It's about the same with the morning news magazine shows.

When I hear them say the word ahead I know that I have five minutes to do the dishes, clean, make coffee, etc... and be back in plenty of time to continue with the program.

I never watch shows like "The View"...I accidently turned it on, Once, and after 5 minutes, I'd had enough. However, commercials seem to be a "Staple" on virtually every channel on live TV....consuming at least 30% of each hour of viewing. But then, virtually Every venue is cluttered with advertisements, anymore....try to find a newspaper, or magazine, anymore, which contains more news/stories, rather than ads....good luck.
All these TV ads offer ample opportunities for bathroom breaks, etc. With the exception of perhaps a half dozen shows, in a weeks time, TV offers, to me, ample opportunities to take short naps.

That's just outrageous!

I wouldn't watch The View even if I had cable anyway. I see clips sometimes here and there and it doesn't appeal at all.

Doesn't appeal? You don't like the idea of five idiots arguing about subjects of which they have no knowledge whatsoever?

Last week I read that one of them suggested that Jill Biden be named Surgeon General "because she's a great doctor". Her response (when it was pointed out that Jill Biden's doctorate is in education) was "Oh."

I just watched it on YouTube... it was Whoopie Goldberg. I won't link the video as it's about politics, but had a good laugh. dhUOuPYZcZvGXGxpJZZV.gif

I have said all of this before on this forum: I cut cable TV over 16 years ago & never looked back. I don't want to preach to anyone but for me life is too short & I have too many things & hobbies so I don't want to sit & be brain-washed by TV commercials. I love my ROKU with no commercials & subheadings for the hard of hearing. I also order a lot of TV shows from the 50s/60s/70s. Love Gunsmoke, Rifleman, Hawaii Five-O, The Streets of San Francisco, etc. No commercials there. Can't really understand why some people submit themselves to volunteer torture watching commercials. A lot of TV today is a mental waste land that dulls your brain. Each to their own but I wouldn't touch cable TV "with a 10 foot pole".

We tend to watch zero TV, and order movies and series that we like on DVD. Of course, that means doing some research regarding what we like, then ordering it. :)

And that's why I decided I'm going to upgrade to commercial free HULU Plus when my free trial is over. I tolerate the commercials on Philo because it has all of my favorite HGTV shows on demand (and live which I haven't used yet). But there may be 2 or 3 commercials in between segments.

Hulu Plus is great. I've had it for a good while. Once you get used to commercial free network TV, you'll never go back.
