Somehow, I dunno why, you just expect some people to live for ever, and Kenny was just one of those people.

I had no idea he'd been ill, but it's reported by his family that he died age 81 of natural causes in a Hospice... last night ...

Thank you for the music Kenny... may you R.I.P... gone too soon...

Holly----There have been a lot of times when I thought some people would live forever and now are gone. Who would have ever thought that anyone but Johnny Carson would host the "Tonight Show?" I am not a star gazer, but some people I just admire due to their talents. Johnny never had to say a word. Just the expressions on his face would bring about laughter.

When Kenny and Dolly sang the song, "Islands In the Stream" on the CMT show of the greatest duets years back, it just made the night for us Country music fans.

I get your point completely @oldman ..but unfortunately I have only the vaguest idea who Johnny Carson is... ( I think he was a TV presenter or anchorman was he)?... but I completely understand your analogy

I'm sorry. I am editing this as it was said that that was misinformation written by a tabloid. I should have examined it further.

Oh I didn't know that Ruthanne.. I hadn't read that at all... awww I hope he didn't suffer for long..:(
Reading it just a few minutes ago is the first I learned of it.

Edit: I read some misinformation and am editing this. Apparently he did not have cancer or it was not verified by Rogers.

No worries Ruthanne... apparently it was correct...

I found this....

Kenny Rogers has not appeared in public since 2018. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017, and also suffered a 25-year battle with hepatitis C that resulted in liver disease and paralyzing back pain.

Seems the poor man suffered a great deal of pain for many years :(

Yes, it's very sad to have to go through that...

I can't believe it ! Just two days ago, I came across a couple of videos on You Tube showing a tribute to Lionel Richie. One was a cute, funny segment where Kenny Rogers told the story of how his big hit, Lady came to be. So sad. May he Rest in Musical Paradise.

A Kenny Rogers song was playing on the radio in the UK the morning after my daughter was born late one evening.

The song goes - "Love will lift you up...........", (I think its called "This thing called love").

Cant find a link right now, so here is another great song sung with Anne Murray: "If I ever fall in love again":

Found the lyrics for you, but it looks as though Elvis sang "A Thing Called Love" (not sure if Kenny Rogers ever did now?):

Six foot six stood on the ground, weighted 235 pounds
But I saw that giant of a man brought down to his knees by love
He was the kind of man who would gamble on love
Look you in the eye and never back up
But I saw him crying like a little whipped pup because of love

Can't see it with your eyes, hold it in your hands
Like the rules that govern our land
Strong enough to rule the heart of every man, this thing called love

It can lift you up, it can put you down
Take your world and turn it all around
Ever since time nothing's ever been found stronger than love
Men like me they worry and doubt
Trouble their minds day in and day out
Too busy a livin' to worry about a thing called love

And then I see a mother's tenderness
As she holds her young close to her breast
Then I say thank God this world will win with the thing called love

Sad, one of those celebrities one always assumed would be there. Also seemed like a class act. I don't recall too many tabloid stories about him.

The dude could sing and draw in the women. Saw him in ‘88 while in Las Vegas.
