The coronavirus pandemic, which surfaced at the fag end of 2019, has so far pushed 119-124 million people into extreme poverty worldwide, the United Nations (UN) said on Saturday.

There is a need for countries to enact policies that are coherent and inclusive, the UN said, adding that access to vaccines is of utmost importance to “build back better". Fair, equitable access to covid-19 vaccines, without discrimination, is of utmost urgency, the global body said.

Controlling this pandemic is Paramount if improving the economies of the world is going to be successful. While many of the developed nations have seen vaccination rates at, or near, 50%, many of the poorer nations are still struggling to vaccinate 10% of their populations, and that only insures that this virus will continue to mutate and spread.

Here, Vaccine Reluctance has created an abundance of vaccines that much of the rest of the world could use. If our people don't want to get vaccinated, send that vaccine to nations that are begging for it.

And yet the stock market is soaring! The top 1% got 44% richer during the pandemic, probably from investments.

Our economy doesn't work well for the poor.
