Crime - Be Careful Out There Folks

Gardenlover

The world needs more love
A couple family members were in town this weekend. We went to a nice restaurant for dinner, upon returning to my car I found that some low-life attempted to break into it. Makes me wonder how things would have turned out if I caught them in the act.

"Nice" places aren't safe anymore; they're just a little safer.
I'm fortunate enough to live in a nice area - many celebrities as neighbors. I've had 2 attempted burglaries; (one while I was home & scared him off) & neighbors have had several car break-ins.

Back in the 80s my car was burgled in Coral Gables, one of the more upscale communities around Miami. They heaved a chunk of concrete through the passenger window. They could have taken the whole car, the spare keys were in the glove box. It was a 12 cylinder Jaguar.

That's terrible Gardenlover. Maybe it's a good thing you didn't catch them in the act they could have been armed. Did you have any damage done to the car?
They tore the rubber seal around two doors and a few small scratches. They were far from professional car thieves. Probably kids or an elderly couple who thought it was their car and couldn't understand why their keys didn't work.

Even that amount of damage will be costly. I have to say, I've been guilty of your last statement. A couple of years ago I parked my car in a parking lot and went shopping. When I came out I couldn't get the key to fit in the car. I tried and tried. What tipped me off was the fact that I didn't recognize anything they had inside the car. My car was white and the exact same make and color was parked right next to mine.
Luckily I didn't do any damage because I would have been careful had it really been my car and I certainly wouldn't have gone so far as to rip up the rubber seal.
I think you can rule out the elders. lol

It's a good thing they didn't succeed no? I've had 2 cars they attempted to steal, had a kill switch in it so they were unable to succeed. Yes, we have to be cautious and take steps to be safe at all times.
