They're fairly lucky they got dumped no further away than the Bahamas. Passengers in the past have been unloaded in African and similar ports and left to fend for themselves.

An acquaintance of mine was dumped, with six other passengers, off a freighter at some hellhole African port when the ship was seized. Apparently that's a real risk in freighter cruising.

Crystal cruises are owned by Genting Hong Kong. They have been having a lot of financial trouble in the last few months. Some passengers did know this and still boarded. Very silly.
The arrest warrant is usually issued to the owner, then the Port Authorites are told and then the Captain of the ship etc.

Very sad to see what is happening to the cruise industry due to Covid and lack of revenues but the marginal players always go by the wayside during difficult financial times.

Thanks for the info. My overactive brain was imagining a huge police boat the size of a Ro Ro ship with massive handcuffs snapping themselves onto the smokestack.
