Curious about new member

On a different device not associated with my account, when I'm not home I have looked in to see what's going on here and my name is NOT on members online on Home Page @Purwell

Doesn't list everyone online. In our old format I was not listed on purpose. There are several members who still choose that option, though I don't know how to do it.

Peace to you, Pepper. :)
However, this sort of scenario is why I have, "Show Your Current Activity," unchecked.

Thanks for the tip Medusa. Too bad we have to feel the need to hide where we are reading and/or posting.
I knew that option was there but always find it fun to know what threads everyone finds interesting.
So I felt I should do my part and be transparent as well. May have to change that now.

Hi Lara,
I'm all for -- well, thanks for the reply and supportive comment. :) And nice to you meet you.

I'm all for transparency, to a point, but do people need to know where I am and what I'm looking at online? It gives me the heebs, like being followed around the mall. 🤨

I mean, people will know what I've found interesting by what I respond to or create.

I feel like I'm making this a bigger issue than it is so Ima shut up now.

I too, have sometimes wondered what causes someone to at least
appear to be checking forum list, for hours and days, and weeks?:rolleyes:
They were here for a minute and then left...but forgot to log out. No?
I've done that...probably a lot. Why is anyone even a little curious?
Who cares? What do you think they're going to find out about you?
Does it matter?

but when we leave the site, our names are not present in Members Online section.

How could we know this?:unsure::rolleyes:
How would we come back to SF, and look at the section, and not be present as online then?:unsure::geek:

Me too, just bored, and naturally very curious about how all sorts of things work....:whistle::whistle::rolleyes::rolleyes:

:giggle::LOL::LOL::ROFLMAO::geek:

(self-editing: I think I might now have found the answer to this question, back in an earlier post ...#18? or #26? ....in this thread....:giggle::love: ....Nevermind!!! not important! :giggle::LOL:😄)

You can de-select the 'show online status' and 'activity' via your preferences in your profile. :)

I had one woman that PMed me all the time saying she didn't know how to post She was looking around & liked what she saw, but didn't know how to answer.

I tried to help her so far I haven't seen her posting.

I have that de-slected all the time...
Thanks Holly,I didn't even know that existed!

There was a person who's profile listed as "male" who kept complimenting me in personal messages. He/she wanted an "intimate" on-line relationship with me. I asked why the avatar name belonging to this person was so feminine? The messages stopped suddenly and the profile was erased. But, I think this person is still on here. (not caring enough to look though)

you do get all sorts on forums.. I have had many PM's from men who joined, and never posted even once, only sent PM's to me and other women.. clearly thinking its some kind of dating site...

how odd ! She knew how to PM..but didn't know how to post ?
Holly.....I don't think she was odd....When I first came in this forum, I was not good with it for so much goes on....
I now came back here.....I use to be here a couple of years or so.....then I decided to leave......
Some times I forget to post......It can be boring...... I really don't know many people here....
We live in two homes....And sometime I don't even bring my lap top with us to another home......
Be well...And I really like you when ever you have something to say.........
I'm getting old and only pick up this lap top when I am bored......
Be well.....Maybe some people can't post or just like to read and not post.....It's a free country in my book!!!!

OK....people I like Hollydolly, so you don't have to interfere..........

I have assumed that the 'allow people to start conversations with you ' means PM's and have restricted that accordingly.
I don't want to be constantly getting PM's from men who are treating SF like a dating site :)

Hahaha! I rarely get them because my man would have to be extremely spiritual (believe in Angels) , into literature, metaphysics and philosophy, and also appear much like Grizzly Adams!
(extremely masculine).
He might not exist on this world!
