Why is there even a thread heading such as this when ......

Damn near every subject posted is deemed political, and the thread locked ?

These are issues of the day , and we are blocked from discussing them. It is beginning to look as though the admins are all so liberal, they cannot stand the idea that another view may be made known, due to the discussion .
 

Seven degrees of separation. Work with it. We do not need to speculate as to another’s political leanings…we need to learn why people think the way they do.
 

Oh , you can post all kinds of news topics that don't have politics in them. When you find one that does, sometimes there are ways of presenting this news without bias. Some news outlets are not leaning one way or the other, and as long as it isn't about promoting this candidate or that, the ideas can be explored. Like the news that Kamala Harris will most likely be the Democratic Presidential candidate.

That's it. No more need to be said. If you want to debate some issue about the economy, go to the finance section and have at it. If it is about war, there are places to discuss the issues. Matrix allows a lot of serious discussions to get quite involved. They really do not need to turn into combative games. I think if you keep to the subject of the post, you'll be fine.
 
Go over to other sites that welcome political discussions. Often they are limited to one part of the site where there is no moderation. There you can post anything about politics or religion. Nobody censors it as far as I can see. Oh, most of the political threads there are useless since a small group of people will visciously attack anybody who even remotely challenges their beliefs.

Personally, I think there are some automated Bots on these sites that are programmed to be obnoxious so as to stifle real discussion and keep people angry with each other.

When I joined in 2015, S.F. did have a political section. To say that was the most used section would be an understatement. You can guess what it was like. But the fights didn't stay in there. The same swiping and vitriol spilled into every section. Finally, politics was banned. I was used to signing on and ready for a fight, but there was nothing to fight about. It dawned on me that S.F. wasn't a combat zone, but a place to be with friends, who have lived a while.

That wasn't always the case though, was it? Remember disagreeing yet being able to just see it as one part of a person, not the whole entire person. Things moved along to other things.

Am I making this up? It was true, wasn't it?

True the Carter Center says so. I'm going to feel just awful when it happens for real. I really admired this man.

Very true. And often still true if those involved in the discussion pull away from social media and hysterical news coverage. I have a few sites that I go to for news and opinions. As much as I respect the those who run the site, I still have to remember, they make money only if I go there and hang out for a while. So, they need to keep drawing me in, over and over and over again. Even the best of them.
 
Some people including this person, can discuss anything calmly. Millions do so every day in group meetings within the corporate world.

The issue is, larger numbers of ordinary people can't communicate much of anything without being emotional. And many persons cannot grasp complex issues or problems even after someone carefully explains whatever because of limited education and or mental abilities. What they can do is like a bull dog with a bone, latch onto single facets of issues like slogans and beat others over the head with whatever. And many quickly resort to baiting others into their sandbox that one quickly finds is full of shallowly buried cat turds.

Why are you still whining about this? There are rules; obey them. If you don’t like the rules, go elsewhere.

Whining ? No, just voicing my point .... like everyone else.
