Cute collectible or ugly dustcatcher?

Whoa, I just looked it up and you're right... and they're selling on Etsy and eBay for anywhere from $60 to over $100! Bottom line, I still go with "ugly" ☺️ but definitely a collectible.
That's what they're selling for, or that's what sellers are hoping to get? Big difference.

From what I saw on ebay, despite there being numerous ones for sale, only one "used" (meaning not brand new complete with box) has any bids on it - and that was for $20. The cheapest one that included a box: opening bid was $27.50. No bids.

Given that Deb lives in a very small town and doesn't sell on eBay, etsy or other nationwide shipping or selling, it seems unlikely this item she'll score more than a few dollars.

I'm practical and a realist, Beezer.

Deb has written about numerous frustrating situations trying to sell similar old knickknacks for $5-$10 over the 5-1/2 years I've been on SF. Something is only worth what you can sell it for.

If it makes me a Debbie Downer to be honest about the unlikely chances this bank will fetch anywhere near $60 plus in her small upstate NY town, then so be it.

I think this is the sort of thing that becomes more valuable with a personal connection to it.

Imagine this as a gift that your grandfather received when he first shipped out with the Navy, maybe from his uncle who'd engendered his interest in the sea. I can see it on a mantle flanking his portrait on one side and an autographed baseball he'd treasured on the other.

Is there romance in your soul, people?

Oops. I see my mistake. I wasn't looking at memorabilia from the point of view of magpies and vultures.

What was that scene in A Christmas Carol where Scrooge's bedroom things were in the process of being looted? :ROFLMAO:

I like it...even if HD said "wow...no accounting for bad taste !" Rude remarks here.
I disagree. Deb asked for opinions right in the title of the thread, "Cute collectible or ugly dustcatcher?"
Replying honestly for an honest opinion doesn't seem rude to me.

None of these remarks insult Deb - she wasn't the piece's designer nor did she suggest it was to her taste.
