Dancing with the Stars

Should be the best dancer, of course. As anyone who has watched it for a while can tell you, it often is the most popular contestant who wins. Bobby Bones danced like an 8th Grade kid at a school dance, yet he won.

Of course it should be the best dancer but I’ll agree with tree dude and say it often ends up being the most popular since ratings become more important. At least that my take on it.

we have the same in UK. and its a big con -- so most have stopped watching it ' the panel have favourites even if their bad dancers !

I have not watched since, maybe the first season, as it seamed a novelty. Wore off fast, because it became a popularity show, and not talent, or most improved dancer. I guess this year even the judges are pulling their hair out over the fact that Sean Spicer is still in. But, though I do not watch, I get the feeling after reading articles and updates, the "comic relief" dancer gets moved forward a lot

Should be best dancer but usually is not. I do not watch much since Derek Hough does not do the show any more. He was a true talent with his original routines. I find myself watching his old routines on you tube.

Best dancer but since it is determined by votes from viewers (or partly...haven't watched in a long time), it may not be the best dancer. I remember the first season. I so wanted John O'Hurley to win. He was fantastic but he and his partner came in second place.

The system has been changed, I assume because of Bobby Bones' win. Now the judges have a lot more power. But good dancers are still being eliminated too early.

Should the winner be most popular or best dancer?
of course it should be the best dancer, and in reality it should still be because , at least in the uk anyway the viewer only gets half the vote... but it's also a popularity contest , if it wasn't and they just wanted to find the best dancer they wouldn't use celebrities...

Strictly Come Dancing is a British franchise and the format was sold to many other countries including the USA, and renamed in those countries as Dancing with the stars . The Uk format is a little different to DWTS ... for one thing it's shown on a terrestrial channel with no commercials ( that would drive me nuts watching a dance show that had commercials all the way through)... secondly 2 of our judges are ( I presume still) also the judges on the American version..Len and Bruno... altho' Len has retired from Strictly.. now.. but all 4 of our Judges are pro Champion dancers themselves.

Our Version has an audience of over 71/2 million viewers watching live every Saturday and Sunday night.. down one million from last year, but for a terrestrial channel 7 million viewers for the live show is very respectable indeed.

..however to give you the full different view between Strictly Come Dancing, and the US version...have a read here...
