I had a hankering for some popcorn, so put a small bag of it in microwave,
turned it on according to micro direstions, when bell rang, I opened the door and
whole lot of smoke rolled out!!! Not too good for my copd, thats for sure, been
struggling to breathe for 15 mins.....dang it....

this sort of happened to me: I read an article that you could save a lot of money by not buying the microwavable popcorn, to just buy popcorn in bulk, put it in your own paper bag and then microwave it. And I did it just like the article said to, but the bag caught fire-- o_O--so the heck with doing it that way. I wonder, do they still sell:

If I ever make it again, I think that's what I'll use.

When I was around 10, my mom dropped me & my sister off at a movie theater. I had some popcorn & I really liked it.
When I got home, I opened a bag of frozen corn & put it in a pan & turned the stove on.
It didn't pop, it just burned. By the time I turned the stove off, the whole house was filled with smoke.
Luckily our parents weren't home, but even after opening all the windows & doors, when they came home a couple of hours later, they asked, "What's that smell?" Of course they knew what happened when they saw that burned pan in the sink. I never saw that pan again.
Ya know, parents who leave little kids alone at home.......really stupid. 😊

:ROFLMAO: From the title of this thread I assumed that you must have had a nasty accident involving a sporran.

Stand by the microwave and LISTEN to the popping sounds. Shut it off as the popping slows down. JimB.

There are many bagged snacks based on popcorn. Smartfood comes to mind. I used to like PopCorners until they became scare and expensive. I used to get them at Job Lots and they were less than $2 for a 7 oz bag. These come in different flavors and are listed on Amazon, but I don't know the availability there. Now if I can even find them in a store, they are like $3.99.

I think they put some kind of metal strip in the bag, which gets hot enough to pop the corn. If you zap it too long, you can start a fire. Gee, guess how I know that!!!!!!!!!!
No metal in microwave popcorn. Metal in a microwave will cause an arc, which will short out the drive motor. The heat is caused by the motion of the molecules in the food being heated. JimB.
