A recent survey asked Americans which they would prefer: permanent standard time or DST. More people liked DST, which gives us darker mornings but lighter evenings. But they don't seem to be changing it any time soon.
It’s the twice a year! my old house is home to over a dozen chiming/ striking antique clocks of various sizes. Spring, changing to BST, not too much of a problem, just wind on an hour through all the quarterly chimes.
But Autumn, switching back to Greenwich Meantime is a whole different matter, unless you stop the things for a day & try to remember to start them all again.
