I wished that you would have called me. With my osteoarthritis, I can't drag deer anymore, so I have to depend on my friends to share their meat. This will be the first year that I have not hunted in a long time, but I will still go up to the hunting camp with the guys. I can still do the cooking while they are out in the woods. I own one-fifth of the camp and will probably sell my share at the end of this season. My wife asked me what I was going to do with my rifles and I told her that I would probably be selling them. My son has all he needs and I only have the two. I will keep my pistols here in the house, but I no linger have any need for my rifles. I have friends that have 80 or more guns and rifles. I never did understand that.
Here in PA, it is illegal to sell venison commercially. However, the man that did my butchering, still will sell a little meat to people he knows. What happens is that when you take your deer to him, you may not get the meat from the deer that you shot. Here in PA we have mountain deer and valley deer and both have different diets. The valley deer eat corn and beans all summer and produce much better meat than mountain deer that eat plants, berries, leaves and stuff like that and the meat is not all that good. I love venison and here in PA we are also trying to increase the Elk population. The state does allow some hunting of Elk, but I believe they only allow 2000 licenses and you have to put your name in the drawing to buy a license.
