Death. A question for you.

My parents both died on the installment plan, and I’ve seen firsthand the prolonged degenerative effects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Because of that, I’d prefer to die decisively and swiftly with my faculties otherwise intact from organ failure, which I suspect will be cardiac. I only hope that my body will be found before my cats start eating it… 🙀

Yes, I hope it happens quickly. I've watched family and relatives vegetate for too many years. I don't want that.
 
Re assisted death, I don't need any assistance. I'm a DYI kinda guy.

My kit is all prepped and ready to go when I am, so it's easy for me to imagine how I'll die: in my sleep. I've discussed it with my kids and my wife, and they all know what to do and who to call.

And there'll be no trace of my "DYI kit" left behind. That part's extremely important....no chance of casting shade on Meesh, if you know what I mean.
 
I never think about it, as I have no control over it! It is a waste of time to think about anything you have no control over.
Now I am not suggesting that you do not think about staying alive, taking care of yourself and avoiding dangerous situations...but just thinking about dying seems to me a waste of time...it will come soon enough!

You may know you are dead, or you may not know!

Nothing you can do now to find out which will happen, but you will for sure die you may know or may not know....

I expect it will be a surprise. We're so accustomed to circumventing death whenever and however we can that I imagine an instant will come when I realize "not this time".

Maybe we just go forward into whatever awaits us? Certainly the world will go on no matter how badly we ding it up. Rather than feel cheated by death I prefer to feel like I won the lottery by ever having lived at all. To life!
 
I have seen death many times and can tell you it is everything a person can imagine and some they can't. I was a medic on a rescue squad in a town just south of DC and have seen a lot but not everything. These days I stay home away from people and groups, etc. I am not pushing my luck.

My choice is to die naturally.
 
It's Eben Alexander's "Proof of Heaven" & "Map of Heaven" that have been mentioned here. I believe what he says. Anita Moorjani's "Dying to Be Me" is another NDE account.
There are numerous other examples of NDE's where people report their experiences in what Tibetan Buddhism refers to as Bardo....the transition zone between this material, physical world and the spiritual dimension that awaits us after we experience the event we refer to as "death".
I think it should be interesting. But I don't want a lingering agonizing death to physical life.....if it comes to that I'll take the quick exit.
