Describe Hope?

I think Hope is more of a trait than an emotion. I've always had hope that I would have a good life, that there was more good than bad in the world, that I would wake up to see the next day. That said, I did have more hope when I was younger and more naive, but I haven't given up.

I think it is. Unfortunately, most of the time, this is the way I feel about it:

"And yet, hope pursues me; encircles me, bites me; like a dying wolf tightening his grip for the last time."
~~from Doña Rosita by Federico Garcia Lorca
Wasn't Lorca one of the first casualties of the Spanish Civil war? I seem to remember that from somewhere.

Oxford Dictionary

noun

  1. 1.
a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen

    2. a feeling of trust.

    verb

    1. want ( desire ) something to happen or be the case.

It seems like the experts consider it to be an emotion ( feeling ). For me it is always coupled with futurizing that a situation will be better ( less suffering ) than it is imagined to be. It feels like a survival response to danger, but sometimes the magic works and sometimes it doesn't.

Hope instills within us the desire that things will somehow get better. It is the drive that helps us move forward.

Hope is a blessing from God that keeps us going in the worst of times as we are always hopeful that things will improve. Happiness, wealth, health, things, and on and on, we always hope for. Otherwise what will be the motivator for our continued existence? Hope keeps us alive.

I hope not to die before I spend some more of my money (hard to do with Covid around). I also hope to see the final show of "Gunsmoke." I am now viewing the 2nd half of the 14th year. There were 20 years so I still have 6 years to go. I hope Covid type of news goes away as I am sick and tired of it. Yes, I have hope.

Hope can keep you going when common sense would tell you to give up. Hope saves people's lives in the worst of circumstances because it is a belief that something can change for the better and they will be the beneficiaries. Overall, hope is a good attitude to have. It's despair that kills.

Worry is the bastard child of concern

Hope is today's action for tomorrow, and the offspring of planning

Describe Hope?

She's 5ft-2", slim, fair haired and blue eyed, oh, and she has a fiery temperament, and, she always gives me a generous portion of chips when I'm buying at the chippy. 😊
