Did Any of Your Children Follow in Your Footsteps?

Nope. Wife's grandfather was a farmer, her dad a farmer, my wife worked for govt HR for 25 years. My Grandfather was in Military, My Father a policeman for 25 then into govt personal protection, I did Military, then....son becomes a mechanic, daughter an interior designer. Two completely opposite of us and no connection to our families past.

Not professionally.

Two of my three kids are a lot like me in character and world view...the way they approach life and handle problems. They appreciate how they were raised. They appreciate the bad times as much as the good times.

The other is more like me in choosing jobs and striving to be an outstanding worker. That one is stubborn. For what felt like forever, that one resented the bad times so much, there was no room to appreciate the good times. And forget about learning something meaningful from of the bad times; let's just be all pissed-off about them For Freaking-Ever.

Fortunately, we're over it now. 😇

My kids, now in their 60s, have done far better than I have done. Grandkids have done better than me.
