Did Anyone Else See the Light Two Nights Ago?

We live in Northern NJ and close enough to New York City to see it fairly clearly from some of the higher points. Two days ago it was late evening and suddenly the sky lit like a sunny day. Then the electric went out for maybe a minute. Then maybe an hour later it happened again. This time the power was out for longer but returned again.

I was looking at the news sites and can't find anything. Obviously many others have to have seen it too. The cause could be anything from a meteor to a blown transformer. It was just really weird. I'm not the bravest in the dark. Me and Mr Foot were in the basement holding each other.

Anybody know what it was or might have been?

Sounds creepy. I haven't heard anything about it either - wonder what They are hiding from us now?

I saw a dull glowing light in my window two nights ago as well, but it turned out to be Crazy Shirley again, trying to see me in my Calvin Kleins. :playful:

No we are not in the Twilight Zone either

Great caption on that photo Pappy! How is it that some folks have such relevant imagery for all sorts of different discussions? Do you have this bookmarked or did you go looking for it and got lucky?

Being a pilot for 34 years, I have seen many unexplainable sites at night coming from the heavens. Over the radio, we would hear other pilots asking if anyone just saw a bright light in the northern sky or other phenomenons. It gets a little freaky up in the sky at night occasionally. It can really play on one's mind and cause a person imagination to run wild. My first officer and I saw a really large white light with rainbow colors intermittently falling very fast to the earth. We thought for sure that it was a meteor shower, but someone had told us that it was a large group of ice crystals. I never followed up on it, but it probably has a name.

A lot of the nonsense I find on google. Some of them, I caption. Never was the serious type and this has gotten me in trouble a few times. Way to old to change now, Debby. Thanks for asking.
