There has been a fourfold increase in autoimmune diseases from 2011 to 2020. 1 in 4 households had one in 1986. 9 in 10 households had them 1997. Now we are said to ingest a credit cards amount of microplastics per week. I wonder if these are related. When microwaves first cam out I reheated or even cooked stuff in plastic contains a lot. Everyday almost. Back then I thought nothing of it. I wonder if the epidemic of autoimmune disease now, is the price we are paying for ingesting microplastics form microwaves for so many years.?

One of my closest fiends was the head nurse at a large Hospital in NJ, and when microwaves came out ,she believed it could be dangerous to cook or re-heat anything in them, in plastic.

I have never used plastic in my microwave...what she said made sense to me.
I only use glass bowls for microwave stuff.

yes , I re heat using plastic in the microwave. or glass or ceramic or whatever container the item is in (except metal, obviously)

many many things have changed between 2011 and now - seems huge leap to pin it on plastic containers going i n the microwave.

Toxins .....

Plastic containers may loosen forever chemicals when warm above room temps, especially water bottles of water or liquids are my info.
Prepared carap is our downfall for sure. Sure most of us live longer drunken on the plastic crap, but those who don't are the weaker squealers.
every good thing has its faults. So what'T you want Chucky! So months pass an plastic bottle of Ketchup sets in a box, then to the shelf, then
into the Fridge? a month on the shelf and 2 - 3 months seems a good in the shelf of the Refrig & is it equal to bad to me. All we used to eat was fresh or in glass, now its got red dye or plastic in it.

MORE TOXINS TO COME, STAY

It is obvious that heating plastic in microwaves is not the only contributor of microplastics that have contaminated our bodies, but it is a factor.

There are frozen prepared foods which come in plastic with directions to poke a few holes in the container, heat for three minutes and then let sit for a minute. Then you are supposed to eat it. Am I poisoning myself?
Most likely not the best decision to make. Remove the contents and put them on a dish and heat them would be a wise decision. But a Factory prepared dinner is also full of crap and most likely ...,,,, I carefully choose ...... ........ ........ ................... ......------------------------------

I only microwave in glass or ceramic containers. And I make a daily habit of eating whole foods rather than processed......especially no ultra processed foods. The most processed foods I consume are frozen berries and tomato paste that comes in a tube like toothpaste......and its only ingredient is tomatoes. Oh yeah, flours, beetroot powder, ground hempseed and milled flaxseeed. That's it for factory altered foods......frozen, dehydrated and ground and the tomato paste.

I have a huge collection of Anchor Hocking and Corning Ware. Prepackaged foods are removed and cooked in glassware. If I have something that doesn’t fit in a regular dish, I cover it with approved wax paper; absolutely no plastic wrap.

I use glassware now. I used to use plastic. These days, everything is BPA free. Supposedly that was the culprit. It's just easier to use glass now.

Good idea!
