Did you ever meet anyone famous?

As a pilot, I met several popular people, both in entertainment and politics. My biggest coward of flying was none other than Jackie Gleason. He seldom flew or even left Miami. I flew him about 10 times. He would always tell me thanks when he deplaned.

I attended one of the concerts of the Happy Together Concert Tour, at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan in the 1980's. The line up was: Gary Lewis and the Playboys, The Buckinghams, The Grass Roots, Tommy James and the Shondells, & of course, The Turtles.

During the Tommy James set, 2 seats to my right was a screaming blonde girl. I don't know if the guy next to me was her friend or not. But she kept screaming and my ears were ringing. The guy next to me must have been really suffering. I felt like I was watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the 60's. The non stop noise must have bothered Tommy James as well. I was sitting in the front row. At one point during one of his songs, he jumped off the stage and started shaking hands with people about 4 seats to my left, and was asking each, "How's it going?".
When he came to me, he shook my hand and asked the same question. so I said, "Okay!". He then shook the hand of the guy to my right. Blondie was up on her feet jumping and anticipating a meeting with Tommy James. But he turned his back on her, and went back on stage. She must have been heart broken. She sat back down and no one heard another peep out of her. I was so thankful to Tommy James. Now I could listen to the rest of his set in peace. The Turtles, the headling band was last, since the tour was named after their best song.

Looking back after the concert, I figured that was something that Tommy James must have had to do back in his younger days. I wonder if the Beatles ever tried doing that?:)

I don’t want to make any of you women jealous, well, maybe a little, but I KISSED ELVIS! Yes, yes I did! It was 1974. I had just turned 18 and graduated from high school. He was playing in Milwaukee and I had a front row seat!
