Did Your Parents Argue About What You Wore?

My parents had freinds that gave their son's clothes to me after he outgrew them. The problem was there were all sissy clothes and I refused to wear them. My folks never really understood why and I never understood why they thought it was silly of me.

The only thing I can think of that my parents didn't like were the hip-hugger slacks with the cropped top that left about three inches of midriff showing. They didn't think it was altogether appropriate but didn't forbid me to wear it.

My father wasn't overly fond of my itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny bikini that I brought back from Europe, but once again he just sighed and let it go.

As a teen I was always a modest dresser as I am today. My parents didn't have a problem with what I chose to wear. I still wore the styles that were popular but the skirts were just a bit longer, the teased hair not has high and the hip hugger pants not quite so low. No bikini, it just didn't suit me.

Mom bought us clothes up to berry and bean picking age (10 or so)

Then we bought our own

Dad didn’t know we wore clothes

Mine were too busy and believed in free expression, you wouldn’t believe some of the clothes I wore !!

I remember getting ready to go to a wedding, fussing about a minor wardrobe malfunction.

My mother said: "Don't worry no one will be looking at you."

I'm sad to report that she was right! :playful:

My Dad never said anything about what my sister and I wore. He always thought we looked perfect. Although my Mother was very stern about most things, I don't remember her ever saying anything bad about our outfits. Of course since we were in Catholic school we wore uniforms so it was only when we were off school that we got to wear whatever we wanted.
