Dihydrogen monoxide … Newest scourge of mankind or sensationlism example?

There were some videos a few years ago of people collecting signatures for an anti-DHMO petition. None of the people signing had ever heard of DHMO, but they were all sure it must be bad if there's a petition going around. Personally, I like my DHMO mixed with a little vodka or whiskey, along with a good cigar in the evening.

Well, I'm scratching my head on this one. Having studied chemistry in college, many
moons ago, I believe that Dihydrogen Monoxide is the same as H20, which is water. Dihydrogen
mens two hydrogens, and monoxide means one oxygen. Hence H20, which is harmless.

I found this article (pg. 7) that says how www.dhmo.org is a hoax organization. I rest my case.

As if there wasn’t enough bleakness in your world already, have a look here - DHMO.ORG
and see for yourself about yet one more thing that the media tries to keep hidden. Jump up
and down, write your representatives in Washington or just wring your hands in fear but
dihydrogen monoxide isn’t going away anytime soon! You deserve to know the inside story.
Thank you, I needed something tangible to "outrage" about today! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The whole point of that trick site is to expose the ignorance and stupidity of so many visitors that will be quick to form opinions without adequate intelligent consideration.
