I received this email from Social Security (subscription.service@subscriptions.ssa.gov.) regarding discounts for internet to people on a limited income. A lot of people living on just Social Security may qualify. With the cost of internet these days, this might be an option. I never heard of this before.
I cut and pasted the main information from the email here:
Internet access is necessary for work, school, healthcare, and more. Unfortunately, high speed internet remains unaffordable for too many households. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) runs a program, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), that reduces the cost of getting online for people with limited income.
What discounts are available?
If your household income is 200% or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines or someone in your household participates in certain government assistance programs, you may be eligible for the benefits the ACP provides. Visit the ACP website to see if you qualify. Please do not contact Social Security with questions about the ACP.
