Do any of the ladies have their own tool box?

A few years back my son gave me a tool box for Christmas. Included were simple tools he knew I could handle. Some belonged to my Grandpa and Dad. My son had them in his work room. He loaded the little drawers with screws, nails, and hooks for hanging pictures. A level, screwdrivers, nail punch, a hand held manual drill, small hammer, sand paper and much more. The hubby has no patience when I want a picture hung or curtain rods put up. I do this all myself and more. I rather enjoy it as well. Do any of you ladies like doing these things as well? tool box (800x600).jpg

At times, my house is like a big toolbox, especially the basement. I inherited tools from my father, and have new things I bought. Yes I enjoy working with tools. :)

That was a very thoughtful gift from your son, Ruth.

Yes, I have a large tool box, not huge, but large. I have a hammer, screwdrivers, and many other tools to use. Funny thing is that I couldn't find the tool box so I started a new one in a shoe box. Then when cleaning out one of my 5 closets I found the old tool box and now I am so glad!! :)

Your son is very thoughtful Ruth! I don't have my own toolbox, my husband has several and other tools all over the garage. I do sometimes hang pictures or put up curtain rods, do some simple things, but I have to admit I don't really enjoy it. If it's too tricky my husband does it or helps me out.

When I first moved, my dad gave me one of his old tool boxes with a few tools in it. Still have many of the tools. Some of which I have never used. But I have them. I did replace the box, though.

I have a tool drawer, but not a box to store them. It's a great idea. Your box is so orderly. Good job. Easy to find everything.

What a thoughtful gift Ruth, I don’t have a tool box but have acquired a few tools as necessary over the years, I have a hammer, screwdriver and some pliers

Yes I had a toolbox similar to yours Ruth after my divorce. It had all the usual tools in it.. and then a friend bought me a Black and decker drill which has been my favourite gift ever . I know how to use everything...but now I don't have my own because my second o/h has more tools than a tool store... couple of sheds full , and loads of tiered boxes....but despite all his fancy expensive tools. he still uses my old Black and decker drill that I was given by my friend all those years ago...

My wife had her own toolbox, and woe betide me if I borrowed so much as a screwdriver!

Not just a toolbox but a workbench, a router and various oter bits.

Yes and though my husband has a trillion hand tools he sneaks mine. His are buried in various places in the garage. My are in a stylish case within easy reach.........hee hee.

I have a couple of tool boxes. But then, of course it's "my own," since everything in my house became my own when my husband passed away.

If more than one person lives in a home, I don't think each one needs his/her individual tool box. One is probably enough. But everyone should know how to use the tools in it.

We gave our granddaughter a tool kit last christmas. I saw it in a catalog. It is a pink plastic case with basic tools which are also pink. Our granddaughter who shares a city apartment with another girl was delighted.

I have tools that my father bought in the 1920s, and that I still use.

Oh yes, I have a tool box and a tool drawer in the kitchen. I still have my grandfather's metal tool box that I have not looked in for years. I need to check it out and see what treasures he left me! Just my opinion, but every woman needs to know how to use basic tools for various situations. If your pipe under the sink or toilet starts pouring water, you need to know how to shut it off. And know where the main shut off is to your house! Sometimes just a bucket is not enough!

I was surprised to see so many of you are handy ladies. I might ask for an electric drill for Christmas or maybe a sander. Maybe I'll get both! I'm pretty sure the Santa I'm living with will be more than happy to oblige.

ALL the tools in the house are mine. If DH borrows anything, he is under strict orders to give it back to me immediately - he tends to put things down after he's used them, then can't remember where he left them!
