Do any of you talk to yourself?

Unlikely he will call if he found out you hate cats because they are selfish creatures who only care about what they want and don't give a damn about anyone else's feelings, not to mention you are done with them anyway, and they are stupid. It makes no sense why you would even want one around. You're better off alone.
The only thing selfish about my cats is that they want lots of love. :ROFLMAO:

I had a Lhasa Apso named Sammie for 14 years which was the life expectancy for her breed. She died last year a week after my lady. That dog and I could read each others minds. Sometimes I wake and hear her barking to go outside.:)

Awww...what a cutie! To lose your wife then your dog right behind her must've been devastating! So sorry for your losses.

To answer your question. I don't talk to myself nearly as much as my son talks to himself ! I mostly just think things to myself like.."You dummy...why did you do it that way?!"

From Reader's Digest:

A home-schooled teenage girl walks into her kitchen finder her mother sitting at the tables talking to herself in agitated tones with exaggerated
head movements. The girls asks, "Are you alright Mom?". The mother looks at her sternly and says, "parent teacher conference".

To answer the original question, yes, I do. Most often when I'm trying to figure something out. It's not unusual for me to hear something out loud making it more clear if it's a good or bad idea.

I don't have any pets now so every day I wish my teddies good morning and say nighty night before snuggling down with them 😊

The rest of the time I talk to myself occasionally about secret stuff 😉 and sometimes rather earnestly when I have to do something that unnerves me.

Depends. An internal dialog is done by, apparently, 95% of people.

Conversations with yourself, out loud, it's only 25% - which is still a big number.

Oops. I meant to write “mostly don’t” myself. When I was in high school I read or maybe heard something on the radio about how narrating our experience and internally ‘voicing’ our thoughts is a counter productive habit. So I set out to eliminate it and mostly have. Many people think thoughts intrinsically involve words but they don’t have to and many physical activities and skills are much better accomplished without.

Well that’s very different from talking to yourself. I talk to my dog a lot and she is a good listener. While I’m sure the words I use have little meaning for her I think they help me focus my intent which she is good at interpreting. Language is or should be for interpersonal communication.

Papa said that talking to one self was the best way to organise your thoughts out loud. Also, arguing with one self is the best way to make a good decision as you'll decide in your own favour 😂😂😂

I agree with your Papa. I would consider those thoughts a conscience. It would be a better world if we all had one. I try to listen to mine.... It depends on reality.

I've heard the same thing - it's counter productive. I have a terrible habit when reading, I voice everything in my mind as though I'm reading it to someone else. This slows my reading, I'm sure. It's a curse. :D

I'm sure it is harder to change habits now than in high school but not impossible. Good luck.
