Me too. After lunch I used to always have a snack size chocolate bar, but since I decided to try to reduce additional sugar I've gotten used to having 3 or 4 dates instead, but I really do crave that (something sweet) after lunch.
Then after supper I always let myself have a reduced sugar dessert (in the range of approx 9 - 12 grams of added sugar). I would feel deprived if I didn't get my dessert.
I realized this morning that my coffee flavorer adds one gram of sugar. I'm undecided what to do about that, I'm not sure if the WHO guidance of it being safe to have up to 25 grams of sugar per day is to be trusted, if so, I can keep my coffee flavor enhancer. I'm not even exactly sure what the guidance is, whether 25 is safe every day or just means it is super bad to go over that but best to be way under it?
But however much I "need" my dessert after a meal pales compared to my expectations for my birthday. In a month I'll be struggling. I usually have an angel food cake and a whole tub of chocolate whipped frosting, and also a rich piece of chocolate cake with tons of frosting from the deli. I've recently bought an angel food cake pan and am planning on trying to bake my own using whole wheat flour and swerve. So far I'm worrying less about carbs but trying to use whole grain, but maybe that won't work for angel food cake.
