Do you believe in ghosts?

I do not. My old buddy James Randi had a million dollars standing by for anyone that could prove anything supernatural, unclaimed of course. Too bad he died, he did a lot of good exposing charlatans, faith healers and etc. RIP.

Yes I wrote what I thought, after reading the previous posts. People can be dumb, and that is how I view this subject. For perspective, I spent a year ( in my early 20'S ) working for a body removal service here in Toronto, which was contracted to a number of small funeral homes. My partner and I were the ones who went and physically removed the dead persons, from where ever they died, and transported them to the funeral home. Later ( in my 30's ) I spent ten years working for the largest Ambulance Service in Canada, here in Toronto. I have seen more dead bodies that most of the people on this forum, I would be willing to bet. In my experience once the vital signs are at zero, that person is not going to get up and dance, again. Ghosts are a man made sillyness. JimB.
 

Nope! I'm from the old school that says "seeing is believing." Since I haven't seen any of them spirits, I have to say I don't believe in them. However, if one dark, creepy, windy night a ghost comes to visit, I will be sure to write about it on this website. In the meantime, don't hold your breath!

Apparently, there are many, many ghosts in Hollywood, according to the volume of movies that seem to come out year after year. Monsters too! Real bad ones! Happy Halloween!
 
I don't know what to think. Our son however had a ghost cat that actually followed him from one apt to another. It apparently wasn't a cat he knew. He would just get fleeting glimpses of the cat. Then one day a friend was visiting, and asked son "oh, when did you get a cat"? So I know he had a ghost cat. It didn't follow him when he bought his mobile home.
 
I do, but I don't see them or think of them as ghosts. They are the spirit of those who we loved that have passed. I believe they come when they are needed to give us comfort when we are struggling, when we are afraid, to help us get through the challenges we face while we are still here.
 
I, too, believe in 'seeing is believing' because I have actually seen a ghost or apparition...whatever you want to call it.

I was startled by a male presence standing at the foot of the bed. I was renting a beach house in Cayucos, so I thought he may have lived there at one time. We looked at each other, then he turned quickly and glided out the door.

Exactly what my grandmother told her children. That is why I wouldn't want to be inside a cemetery after dark. It isn't the dead you have to fear; it is any weirdos or perverts who might be lurking there.
 
I don't. But I'm open minded about it. I just never experienced anything like a ghost.
I think most people who have are seeing what they want to see.

I'm a Christian, so, no, I don't believe in dead relatives paying a visit
Too many biblical texts plainly saying the contrary

What is a fallen angel? I am a Christian but I don't know the bible as well as I should. Do you not believe that your wonderful beautiful boy sits at the feet of God? That he knows that you and his Mom did everything you could to help his suffering. Just that is a Godly act. On this earth you loved him all through his struggle until God called him home. Explain how he, your own son, setting at God's feet, basking in his love, that he could not be looking down, sending his love, hoping you will have a happy life here until you meet again. I don't believe in ghosts, but I do believe in God and that he made each and everyone of us. That he recieves us in his home and allows us to love and look after those until we can join them.

Do I have it all wrong? Will I not see and be with those I have loved here on earth in heaven? God has made a place for us, a home, beyond our lives here, is that not so? These are true questions, I thought I knew the truth of it. Am I wrong, does it all mean nothing? Were all the things I was taught as a child a made up story? I am so confused. I know that is a lot but I thought I knew the truth, now I don't know.
 
Blessed, I believe that is just a story, made up by ancient people in an attempt to make sense of the world. I do not have the answers, but I do not believe in 'God' , angels, heaven, hell - or ghosts for that matter.
I have on occasions woken up to find strangers (or a dead relative) apparently in my room. These are nor ghosts or religious visitations, they're the result of a benign sleep disorder.

you may be right I have only a visatation of some kind. Many times as a child from my father who died when I was only three. It may have been something I wanted, dreamed off but I do not say it was my imagination.

The other has been my husband, no I did not see him. I feel his presence when I am scared or struggling. Yes, it always at night, that point when you are almost asleep but not. This I know for me, it true. I think you are in a life committed marriage. At that I would say to both of you it may happen and embrace it.

I'm too familiar with my own mind to think ghosts are anything more than mental anomalies of the type Capt points out. And if you like the idea of ghosts and supernatural beings, you will treasure such incidents and add your own rationalizations to the experiences, because they are fun. I tried to keep an open mind about it once. I'm still open minded in that if someone showed me a ghost, I could accept it after weeding out all the psychological malarkey that supports the idea, but mostly, I've got more important things to do than to immerse myself in fantasy. There's a real world out there, and that's the one I live in. I didn't ask for it. It's just what it is.

Remember when Jesus walked on the water and the disciples in the boat clearly said they thought he was a ghost? Those of us in Christ fortunately will be with God -but even then-there is always a choice as some are too attached to this world -people-things- to move on right away. There is always free will.
