Do you buy the name brands or store brands?

For me, it depends. Things like ketchup, well, it has to be Heinz. Come on. But I can down a bottle of no name store soda. For clothes soap, it has to be Tide, the bargain stuff doesn't seem to work well. But I get the no name glass cleaner from Dollar stores. Like I said it depends on the quality of the no name stuff.

I mix and match store brands and name brands.

Depends on the price and the product.

If I check the ingredients and the percentages and they are both equal, then it goes by price.

When I took an accounting course they explained how manufacturers have two assembly lines.

They produce the same product on both lines and just the name changes. For instance Whirlpool and Kitchenaid from Sears are identical except for cosmetics. I know this because I had a Kitchenaid stove and I ordered parts from Whirpool.

I don't know about anyone else but I think all pasta is the same.

Close to us, there is a bakery where a couple of my neighbors work. They confirmed what I had long suspected. All the bread came off the same line. Wonder bread, piggly wiggly, little giant, great value, and nature's own.
Kind of like lawn mowers. MTD corp now makes Troy built, cub cadet, Bolens, Yard machines, Columbia, Wolf Garten, Rover, Robomow, and Remington mowers.

We buy a fair amount of "Great Value" store brands from the local WalMart....mostly household cleaning items, etc. When I was working, I made several trips to the WalMart headquarters in Bentonville, AK, and every morning the "Brand Name" salesmen would line up at the sales area, to sell their products to WalMart. Since WalMart bought in such huge quantities, the consumer price was always substantially lower....for the identical product....the Only difference being the Name on the product .

Found an updated list of MTD products.

Bolens, Columbia, Cub Cadet, Cub Cadet Commercial, Cub Cadet Yanmar (joint with Yanmar), Farm King, GardenWay, Gold Series, Gutbrod, Gutbrod-Kehrer, Lawnflite, Mastercut, Mow Master, Mow Master Mastercut, MTD, MTD Black Edition, MTD Silver Edition, MTD Gold, MTD Mowmaster, MTD Platinum Pro, MTD Platinum SD, MTD Pro, MTD Super, MTD Taral, MTD Tradesman, MTD Turbomax, MTD 2000 Elite, Novotrac, Ranch King, Rasentrac, Remington, Ryobi (sold to TTI), Troy-Bilt, Ventzki, Ventzki MTD, White Outdoor], Yard Machines, Yard-Man, Yard-Man Elite, Yard-Man Select, YardWorks

I tend to buy tried and tested brand names. Cereals I go for Tesco Cornflakes. Swings and roundabouts what I choose brand wise and if I try an own brand product if I like it stick to it a cheaper price

In England M&S Simply Food sell very good products and lines, a bit dearer but quality in flavour and presentation I find hard to equal

Forgot to say: I like the local Lidl and the bakery is second to none and their own brands vary in quality but in the main good value

It depends on the product. Aldi's has some good off brand items. Greenwise brand Publix store brand is a winner. I have to be careful with soaps, so I stick to trusted brands like seventh generation. I switched from Tide to Purex decades ago, on the advice of the queen of clean. I buy store brands on things that don't matter, like household cleaners, etc. Much of that kind of product is the same thing they charge extra for in a brand name. It's made by the same companies, with a different label. Why pay more?

I mix and match... I don't buy a lot of canned food so when I do I buy mainly branded... although Aldi chopped tomatoes in herbs and chilli, are better and cheaper than branded... but they're canned corn and other veggies are not...

I prefer Aldi loo rolls , to Andrex or any big name...more product for your money...

I will always buy Hellmans Mayo... but last week for the first time instead of Heinz tomato ketchup.. I bought Aldi's own brand..half the price.. and hubs sayys there's no difference ( I don't eat it so I wouldn't know )..

Branstons baked bean..( Heinz have deteriorated over the last few years).... but overall, I pretty much mix and match, if something tastes as good and is of equal or better quality that's what I buy, regardless of the brand

O.K. now how about someone give me a good brand of coffee since there are tons on the market.

I thought I would try Starbucks coffee for home use. I wasn't impressed. Just not strong enough.

I have to use 4 tablespoons to one cup.

I have some coffee that makes my hair stand on end. I have to make it weaker. It's Aldi's store brand donut shop one.

Try one of the espresso brands like Cafe Bustelo or Cafe Caribe.
