Do you ever listen to cultural music?

I enjoy many types of music, but have just recently been seeking out different culture's music, for example music from India.

I guess I'm looking for something different to take-me-away. (Reminds me of the old Calgon commercials - what a great tag line.)

Sure, you can go to places like Spotify, or even YouTube and type in whatever culture of music you want. Give it a try.

For our morning walks my wife loads our coconise players with music from all over the globe. Of course not understanding the lyrics is to be expected. It's the beat of the music that is interesting.
Years ago she was able to access a site in Mexico that she could download from. All totaled she has about 22,000 files. That music she stores on an isolated hard drive just in case

Australian cultural music would be Indigenous Australian Music of which I have never engaged with.
Fremantle, Western Australia did have a group that played Zimbabwe music centered around marimbas.
Incredible music that resonated in my bones when attending a live performance.

Yes, I always have.
Middle Eastern, Greek, Mariachi, African, Spanish/Flamingo, Circassian; I guess most European Folk music. Lots of Italian tunes, too.

I adore Laotian folk music. But not as much as The Who.

At different times, I've listened with interest & appreciation to Indian music, Japanese music, Indonesian gamelan music, classical Spanish-guitar music, Jamaican reggae, Mexican mariachi music (w. violins, trumpets & guitarron). I really like various styles within New Orleans piano music.

I love classical Indian music. And there is one soundtrack that I used to listen to all the time was from the movie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Wonderful stuff.

Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero met in Mexico when they were teenagers while playing in a heavy metal band. When they were first starting out, in 1999, they went to Europe. First stop, Ireland. They landed in Dublin with $1000 and spoke no English. A Mexican woman had offered them her house, but when they got there, they found out they couldn't stay there after all. The taxi driver drove them around all night, looking for a place to stay. They eventually found a place to rent, but soon ran out of money. So, they had to busk.

Although their musical influences are nuevo flamenco, rock, and heavy metal, they refer to it as fusion. They've been playing together for over twenty years in top venues all over the world. If you've seen the movies "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Puss in Boots," among others, or the TV show "Breaking Bad," you've heard their music. In 2010, they played at the White House. In 2020, their album "Mettavolution" won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

Gabriela is not only a rhythm guitarist without peer but also a master percussionist, and Rodrigo is simply a master of his instrument. Together, they're magnifico! Watch in full-screen if you can.

I guess I'm some sort of a music heathen. I've heard Indian music, and to me, it sounds like a cat in heat, set to someone banging an old pot. Japanese sounds like a slower cat. I'm not a musical connoisseur, I'm a pop '60s nut. I'm not too thrilled by '80s pop music.
I'll crawl back into my '60s cave.

Wow, they are incredible. I love, love, love their style. So much rhythm, talent, and creativity. They're awesome.
