Do you ever wonder why people only use Jesus' name in vain?

One last thing I'll emphasize for being publicly considerate is, although swearing in taking the Christian lord's name or with Moslem's, Allah's name in vain, may not bother an individual or like others, please refrain from doing so publicly around any religious others, even if they don't confront one, because it can be a seriously unpleasant to listen to versus using the many non-religious swearing terms.

Because they know they won't get punished since Jesus' power is made up. For example, the other night I prayed to Jesus to put a Porsche 911 Turbo S in my garage which I left an empty space for it. The next morning, exicited, I went out to the garage and for the space was still empty. I was so sad. Then, the next night I prayed again, asking Jesus don't put that Porsche in the empty space in the garage. The next morning, I went out to the garage, and no Porsche was sitting in the empty spot. Jesus finally answered my prayer.

Well, some people take Jehoshaphat's name in vain.

Jehoshaphat, according to the Hebrew Bible, was the son of Asa, and the fourth king of the Kingdom of Judah, in succession to his father. Wikipedia

As in: "Jumping Jehoshaphat" !
Could be the adjectival-verb "jumping" is used in the sense of "skipping"... Could be the expression is used among Bible scholars, the short expression then meaning "skipping Jehoshaphat" and referring only to his dad, Asa, and Jehoshaphat's son, Joram. Hence, in reference to the third and fifth kings. 🤔🤔

It cracks me up when non believers call Jesus' name when they are in trouble. If you don't believe, keep his name out of your mouth! I hate it when people say Jesus F.....ing Christ. SO disrespectful !!!

Yep. It cracks me up when believers call jesus' name to help their team win a game or when players make the sign of the cross just before they kick the ball.

I agree. If you don't believe, stop saying "F it" when you have no real intention of "F-ing it". SO disresptctful!!!

I subscribe to the George Carlin idea: "There are no bad words, bad thoughts, bad intentions, and words." Swearing when something goes wrong is simply a quick stress reliever, perhaps a more powerful version of "Darn the bad luck."
I was just reading another post here on SF where the poster used the word "frick" as in "what the frick." Is that more acceptable than using (what I suspect is the real word) as in WTF? The intent is exactly the same, but one word is more acceptable than the other.
