Do You Have a Dash Cam in Your Car?

Do you have a dash cam in your car? They’re inexpensive now.

They’re good for settling an argument in the event of a collision. Some can also catch a video of fender benders while you’re parked.

The only argument that I hear against one is the random wires.

Nope!

I’m kind of surprised that they are not a standard option on new cars.

I’ve thought about something that would keep an eye on my vehicle while it’s parked in the garage at my complex.

With my luck, a dash cam would always be looking in the wrong direction when something is happening. 😉🤭😂

Both of our vehicles have cameras. The first one was after a 2016 accident that totaled out my truck & sent me to ER. What saved me was the road crew who witnessed the entire accident & gave statements to the officer.

We had the second one put in the SUV right after purchase. My kid just got a new vehicle & her Christmas present this year is a camera.

Ours are installed by a stereo shop who does an excellent installation job. The cameras show a front & rear view that have excellent quality. The front view isn't quite 180-degrees, but I hope they come out with a camera with side views (seriously) since I was t-boned in the crash.

The camera has a microchip that can be taken out & viewed in a computer. That chip can be given to an officer if there is a need to. We keep spare chips in the vehicles in case they are needed. Hubby has the app installed on his phone that he can view what is on the camera.

When I got a new vehicle in Feb last year, I installed a dual camera (Front & Rear)
Cost was just over 400. Self installed, hiding all wires and integrating it into the fuse panel.
also comes with park assist and continues to record for a while when parked but monitors the battery voltage and if it drops to a certain voltage it turns off the camera.
I can monitor on my smartphone as well.

Either it is STANDARD or it is an OPTION. What is a standard option.

I've been thinking about this for a while but have not followed through. I fully agree that it could be invaluable in an accident. Guess I should pursue this seriously.
Can the cam be transferred from one car to another if professionally installed?
