I can't remember the last time I had everything matching !! Everything I own seems to be mismatched !

When I Was first married , it was the "Suzy home maker " thing to do . Everything perfect. Everything matching. As I got on with real life ... things got haphazardly replaced. The grocery store was giving away glasses , silverware and plates , but I never managed to collect whole sets. When my son was little,we had more Flintstone cups & McDonald's dishes .... ugh.. you name it , if it was free we had it ! Now that it's just the 2 of us - we STILL don't have anything matching ! In fact,we don't even use glass drinking glasses. We have an assortment of nice plastic ones because my husband kept breaking them. Now, a few of my real dishes still match... But I have a lovely stack of matching paper plates next to the microwave. I guess you could describe my kitchen as "retirement Chic" ~~~~ :playful:

I have 3 sets all matching. One is a white set that I use for good and at Christmas, another is an everyday set, and the 3rd set I inherited when I bought a used summer trailer.

I do have a set of china- service for 8. And an ever dwindling remains of Franciscan ware that went from service for 12 now I think only half is left.

Glasses? Haven't had a matching set of 12 for years!

I have a set..in my china cabinet..I think it's crazy the way we put things up and don't use them.
I actually feed my dog from two bowls that belonged to my grandmother's china set.
I think using them is better than letting them set on a shelf. It also makes me think of her every time I feed and water the dog.
I've had my set of corelle ware for years and years I use for everyday. glasses however are long gone.

Yes, we do. When we got married 45 years ago, we started off with everything matching. Gradually things wore out or broke and we ended up with a real mix. Last year we bought a lovely set of Denby crockery and glasses. We also bought new cutlery by the German firm WMF and cooks knives by Henckels.

I had 3 sets of dishes. 2 were China and used for special occasions and one was for everyday. When my daughter got married I gave her one of the sets of china. She treasures everything so I wanted her to have it now and not after I passed away.

.

I have lots of vintage "Texanware" plastic glasses.

I have a set of 'Spring Blossom Green' Corelle dishes I bought when I first set up housekeeping on my own.

I also have vintage stainless steel cookware and iron skillets [most I inherited from my mother, along with her "Butterfly Gold" Corelle dishes.]

I also have my mother's vintage apple design Franciscan dishes she used for special occasions... but those are packed away and I don't use them.

I have a service for 12 which are my good dishes.I haven't used the full set in years but still use some for special occasions. My everyday dishes are Corelle. I didn't buy the cups that went with this set because we prefer mugs. Mugs are a mixture of sizes as well as the glasses. Some are plastic. My good set has the rose in the photo. dishes (800x600).jpg

The one on the right is the set I have.

Yes; I have a kitchen full of "Fiestaware", made in the USA. All the serving pieces, bowls, you name it. I also have a set of Christmas dishes and a complete set of Franciscan Desert Rose china. I used to collect Pfaltzgraff when they were "America's Potter", but when they moved to China, I moved to Fiesta. I have always had an obsession with nice dishes, great cookware, kitchen gadgets and knives. Also have full sets of flatware and crystal.

I have 3 large sets of family china packed in boxes, I wish that I could find someone in the family that would take them and appreciate them.

I have odds and ends of nice china and glassware in various patterns that I like and use for myself. These days I look for small plates and glasses that make it easier to control portions without measuring everything.

It's easy to be all matchy matchy when you only need enough dishes for one or two people, LOL!

My dishes are all white, but they're from different sets. I'm just happy they're all the same color. The glasses are from three different sets. Hey, they're all clear glass, right? The silverware is from two different sets....yep, they're all silver-color.

That's about as coordinated as I get.

I have a matched set of Mikasa dinnerware. I've replaced a couple of pieces that got broken using open stock.

When my hands started bothering me a number of years ago, I gave away the glasses I had trouble gripping and replaced them. At the time, I was living in a casita that had brick floors, so losing my grip was dangerous. I initially bought Libby's Impressions but they've lowered their quality, so I bought these crinkly Bormioli-Rocca Sorgente glasses. My hands are much better, but I still like these glasses.

We don't have a matched set of dishes, glasses, silverware or pots & pans either for that matter......it's just a hodge podge of stuff that we've acquired here and there through the years.

On the other hand our extensive set of hillbilly tupperware comes pretty close to matching.......it all either says Cool Whip, rainbow sherbet or small curd cottage cheese on it.

Most of my things are mis-matched now and for the first time in my life I don't care. I guess cause now the family dinners are hosted somewhere else than my house. And that makes me happy. :playful:
